Hi all,

I'm working on an article about conducting a trial run with babysitters or nannies. Has anyone ever done this and would you be willing to answer a few questions via email? If so, feel free to reply to this thread or privately message me!

Thanks so much,

Amanda

I have not done this. Either that or I'm not sure what you mean!

I always do a trial run. Sometimes even if you really like the person your child may not.

It's essential to check babysitters or nannies have no had no criminal charges laid on them in the past, and their references have to be original, not photocopied and absolutely exemplary. All references must have contactable telephone numbers so you can immediately contact direct and get the information you need on a prospective employee. Said nanny or babysitter may have the face of an angel, but the temperament of a harridan or is hiding a temper. You wouldn't be any the wiser unless making essential enquiries so it's vital to get these done first BEFORE you introduce them to your child. In the UK there have been horror stories.

It is essential a nanny has past experience, and of course as marilyn162 said, the child has to like them.
