I do not have experience to share regarding birthing close to medical school finals. I just wanted to bump your thread so hopefully get more views and some mommas who have experience to share.
I did not have my children during med school but had classmates who did and now, as clinical faculty, we periodically have students who are pregnant. I think the key is to go to your dean of students as early as possible and have that person advocate on your behalf with the course directors to make arrangements that are reasonable - we all want to see our students succeed!
Not sure if you still need answers on this but I thought I'd add my experience. I had my son while I was in law school, so I'm not sure if my experience will translate but... My son was due mid semester but ended up being born 2 weeks late & therefore closer to finals. I took the entire semester off, which saved me some stress but I imagine the structure of med school might be a bit less flexible. I think, though, that with some advocacy, I could have done the semester & gotten some alternate schedule for my finals. Good luck & congrats!
It's probably too late now... but I had my first child in med school. feel free to PM me.
