I've never heard of sand animation before, but that was really cool. The artist was quite dramatic, too, and very stylish! Very poignant piece. I did note that this was from "Ukraine's Got Talent"—and while I don't watch those shows so I don't really know—it did make me wonder if "sand animation" would even be considered for "America's Got Talent".

I cried, too. That was amazing.

She's telling the story of the Ukranian experience of WWII. It's horrific and sad and we in the west have heard almost nothing about it.

I thought it was something like that. Makes it all the more amazing, that she could tell a recognizable story with the art!

As Dar said, an obviously sad story of a loved one lost in WWII, but also the soundtrack is extremely emotional, as most songs are very famous in Russia and are dedicated to the fallen soldiers. I think most Russians are conditioned to cry the moment "Cranes" plays, for example. "It sometimes seems to me, that those soldiers that didn't return from the bloody battlefields, didn't disappear in the earth, but turned into white cranes" is the first line.

This one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yYcEX5O5a4&feature=related. the one that won at the final, is more universal. Also, absolutely amazing.

Interestingly, the songs are in Russian and her final messages are written in Russian too. But of course the experiences are true to many in the former USSR republics during WWII.
