Cool baking soda bath.

Don't put lemon on your girly bits. Lemon is acidic!!

I'm sorry it's happened to you. If it makes you feel better, I've done this myself ... and, unfortunately, not because I was using the bathroom. I thought I had burned a very important button off, lol. I felt like the stupidest person in the world. I usually wear gloves when handling a lot of hot peppers. But, that day it was only a couple. So, I thought I'd be safe.

Anyway, a cool baking soda bath might help. It did for me.

Also a yogurt compress (sugar free) or even milk.

Try milk or plain yogurt, see if either of those help.

I did the same thing, but with my eye. It was pretty funny when I started yelling and dancing around the room.

I had this happen when putting my contacts in and I started yelling "Someone has poisoned my solution!"

It took me a few to realize the habanero's left some heat on my fingers from the day before.

Not fun!

This is the best. thread title. ever.

Anyway, I think PP gave you some good advice. I hope the burn went away!

I did this once with some habanero peppers but I touched my nose. I thought my sinuses were on fire and friend suggested eating a couple pieces of bread and it worked.

I don't think bread would be helpful in your case though.

Hope you are feeling better today. I was going to suggest milk, too.

My ds#1 did that once with his eye. But we ended up calling the doctor and there massive amounts of Advil involved for inflamation.

we just waited it out both times, but the BURNING!!!

and i have a friend who got it in their eye with contacts on and then didn't properly get it off their contacts and then the contacts themselves were burny!

why do we eat things that are so venomous??

One thing to remember for next time is dish detergent. It breaks down the oils and helps them flush away from your mucous membranes faster.

I did the contact thing once before too, worst feeling ever to have habenero burning eyeballs. So what i learned is to rub a silver spoon to remove the oils from the peppers. Whenever i chop peppers i then wash my hands and rub my fingers on a spoon, works every time! I can't imagine rubbing a spoon on my yoni but heck i would do anything to help that pain!

I'm so sorry but I laughed out loud when I read this title! I'm glad you are feeling better. I once did that to my DS, he fell asleep nursing and I popped my finger in his mouth to unlatch him...his eyes popped wide open and he let out such a howl! I thought he was just pissed I was trying to take his boob away and did it TWO MORE TIMES before I figured out what the problem was! Poor little guy.

I did the same exact thing last summer, except that I used my jalapeno fingers to retrieve my Diva Cup, and we have showers only in the house.

So I plugged the bottom of the shower and sat in the two inches of water I was able to amass and cried like a baby.

Yeah, I figured this was HH, too.

Anyhow, when my husband experienced capsaicin burn, what helped the most was:
(1) reading about the nerve response and understanding that it was a nerve trigger thing and not at all indicative of actual *damage*
(2) vodka
(3) benadryl

And he soaked his hand in ice cold water while he waited for 2&3 to take effect. Note, he had one shot of (2) and maybe a half dose of (3). Not generally advised to mix downers, but his CNS was in extreme overdrive.

Chasing DS since April 2007 and pumping for DD March 2013.

Pre-kids I had a thing of pepper spray that I carried in my purse. It accidentally went off one day and I had to clean everything off that it sprayed. Fast forward a few hours later and I changed my tampon...

I thought I was going to die!
