I hope you all do not mind me asking but I am having a hard time choosing a camera. I cannot afford the one I really want so I am settling for one. I have 2 picked out. Any suggestions or opinions would be greatly appreciated. This is my first digital camera and they both have really good reviews. Does anyone have either one of these? Or can you recomend a nice one for under $250?
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20 10MP
Fujifilm FINEPIX S1500FD Black 10 MP 12X Zoom

THANKS

I really like my Canon PowerShot A480 (I liked most of the powershot series actually). It has 10 megapixels, a video option, takes great photos, is compatible with my mac, and my son has even dropped it a few times without issues...and it's only $100.

Imaging-resource.com is a great resource for reviews, and to help you find the best camera to meet your needs. Sony and Canon are two of my preferred digital camera brands.

I just bought my dad the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-WX1. It is a fantastic camera.

Canon Powershots are also great cameras. Check out the Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS.

Cannon Powershot here, SD600, several years old. Takes great pictures. The newer models are even better!

I've heard bad things about Fuji though, and the finepix camera my best friend actually returned.

Love the powershot series as well. Not sure which one I have but I picked it up last summer for $250 and it takes awesome photos. I can also say - do NOT get a kodak. they make great film but terrible cameras

I have a Fuji Finepix (S5200 or something like that) that I loved for a nice point and shoot. However, it just died on me the other day, and I have no idea why. It was about 3-4 years old?

One thing to keep in mind about the Fuji, unless they've changed it, is that they only take XD cards, not SD. It didn't cause me any issues, but SD cards are more well known and widely used.

I also like the Cannons. I had this one picked out. I am looking for one with a large optical zoom. Canon - PowerShot 10.0-Megapixel Digital Camera - Black
Model: SX120 IS

Thanks for everyone's help.

I bought my first digital camera a year ago- I went with the Canon Powershot 1100 IS Elph. It had great reviews everywhere I looked and was rated well by consumer reports too. I have been VERY pleased with it. Its easy to use, comes with more functions than I know what to do with, and has turned out some really great photos for me without much effort.
