I was just reading this article and they estimated that the average Farmville player spends $20 / month to play. I find this hard to believe because everyone I know that plays doesn't pay anything.

How many FB apps to you have that you use on a regular basis? Do you pay to use them, and if yes, how much do you pay on a monthly basis?

Given how crappy, glitchy, and resource hogging all those silly apps are ( I played Kingdoms of camelot for a bit, and cafe world too but none anymore) I can't see why ANYONE would pay a cent for using them. Sounds like the PR company representing one of the aps wants ppl to THINK other people are playing to pay their stupid games so THEY will think ...oh ok, if the avg user spends 20 bucks a month then it's not so bad for me to spent 10 bucks this one time to buy x goodie for the game?

I don't pay for any- not that I use them anyway

I spend enough time on there 'chatting' that I'd become a complete waste of space if I was involved with apps.. I'm trying to limit my time online as it is

I play too many of those silly FB games, but I pay for none of them. Half the time we barely have enough money for real life stuff, so I'm not going to waste money on make believe stuff.

On one of the games I play, I have several friends who spend what appears to be massive amounts of money on it because they have a bunch of the stuff that's only available through the "cash."

I, too, would delete my FB account before I would pay for those silly games. But, I'm willing to believe that there are probably enough people who pay (more than $20/month) for Farmville stuff that it averages out to $20/month/player.

I dropped all the time sensitive, sit and click for hours, games and never paid anything for them while I was playing them.

Was tempted to pay for them from time to time when I was playing way too much, so I wouldn't be surprised if the average was quite high.

DD: I'm bored and want to play Me: What about me? I can play. DD: No thanks, I mean a real person.

I did a Superpoke pet on FB for awhile, mostly because DD liked helping me with it. I remember being so confused about the gold and silver at first. I assumed that the gold was something you got at a higher level, and then realized you were supposed to buy gold, so you could buy imaginary things for an imaginary pet.

I just couldn't believe anyone did that, but obviously lots of people do.

Ummm, well, yes, I have paid $10 a month for an upgraded version of Packrat on and off over the last couple of years. I think I've spent about $60, maybe $80. It might be wacky, but oh so fun!! LOL!

In the news scroll, over to the the right of the offending message, you can mouse over the area and the word 'hide' shows up. Click on it. It gives you the choice of hiding that person or hiding the application.

I quit playing them because I refused to pay anything and it was too slow or boring to do it without paying.

Nope, the one I have in mind has only ever given me 2 of their "cash" the entire time I've been playing it.

I play some of them but would never pay to play them.

To hide them....if you see a game posting, say FarmVille, you hover over it on the right hand side and a "hide" button will appear. It will ask you if you want to hide the person or the app. Click "app" and the postings for FarmVille will never show up on your board again. You have to do it for each of the different games though. Unfortunately it doesn't work for everything though. I tried hiding the horoscope and bible ones and it won't let me. Grrr.
