Symbolically, absolutely. Sometimes I think they can also try to show you painful things you've forgotten so you can deal with them and heal/move on. I have had prophetic ones too, but not many.

I used to think they're just random. As I age my dreams became more mundane and sometimes annoying. Then I realized one day whenever I dreamed about annoying things, my parents or brother usually does do some annoying things after. I was complaining about my "annoying dreams that come true" to DH and he didn't think it had any significance at all. He said my family do annoying things all the time, whether I dream about it or not, it's always going to happen.

I do think that whenever I dream about snakes, I'm getting some unexpected money. That's always been true and I have hardly ever seen a snake (outside of zoos) in my life.
