Is there a cell phone that.....

-has no monthly charges (or very minimal)
-pay by the minute
-can program certain numbers in and those are the only numbers that can be dialed??

ETA- Also one where the minutes don't expire!

Steph, DH Jason (1-1-11), DS Owen (10-3-03) and DS Kai (10-13-11)

I don't know for sure but this is the first thing that came to mind. It is a phone that is designed with older customers in mind and has a feature set that caters to that demographic. Perhaps this company provides an option like that.

here is the kid one

I work in telecom, and it's hard to think of a company that would allow the minutes to just never expire-- maybe look for plans with long expiry packages?

I just did some quick googling because I know I've seen those, and I found Firefly and Kajeet. Firefly looks like you can pay per minute, but the minutes do expire. Or you can do a monthly plan on either- looks like they both have a $5/mo plan.

The minutes not expiring isnt gonna happen. Best you can do is either set up a monthly auto pay of like $5 or $10 or expect to pay $100 once a year (which is what we do).

I think that you can purchase non expiring Tracfone minutes....

ETA... I just looked at the site and it looks like that is not the case. I think that is the area you may have to compromise on.

This is a tree on fire with love, but it's still scary since most people think love only looks like one thing instead of the whole world. *

... if you are thinking about a phone for O...

then firefly would be the best way to go. as a second family line phone. it has its own phone number. that's what we have for our dd. however check with your provider. some are discontinuing servicing those kiddie phones.

btw i am assuming you or J already has a cell phone.

however with the firefly you can only program 4 numbers. is that enough?
