Well, I just updated my blog with their response. Even more concerning because they chalk it up to being completely normal. Sick, sick, sick. And you can tell it's happened before because they brushed it right off! Red flag for me.
Looks like I won't be using that brand anymore. That is just too gross for me. I'll stick with OB where I can see the product and make sure it is okay.
Holy crap! That is soooooooo disgusting! Like beyond disgusting. And their response is laughable. It's a mold similar in nature to that found on vegetables and baked goods? Yeah, that makes me feel a lot better. NOT. I generally try not to shove moldy food up vagina. Wow. I can't believe that they are aware of the problem, and it's still happening, and there hasn't been a recall.
Eh, my vagina is old and moldy anyway. But if this is true... and I say that because it reminds me of the bras that cause oozing sores, then gross. If it's not, then what's the angle?
And I'm not really believing this by looking at the packaging. I don't pop out the tampon from the applicator with the packaging still around it. Not to say it can't happen... just saying... you know?
Ok well I just looked into this more and I really hope they figure out what kind of mold this is. And I would really like to know how often this kind of thing happens. Super glad you didn't insert that thing.
OMG me too! That is just so awful. I can't believe the response from the company. Sorry Kotex, not good enough!

Holy crap, did you know this is on jezebel.com? It just popped in my FB feed!
Mama to a preschooler and a baby.
I love mine and I"ll never go back!
It's a reusable menstrual cup made out of silicon. You insert it and then take it out and dump the contents a few times a day. It's way easier and cleaner than one would think by reading about it. It is seriously life changing.
Mama Bear , Papa Bear and Baby Bear (8/11)

A Toronto born young mama freshly moved for a new adventure in ALBERTA! with Superdaddy and her intact and vax free, breastfed and babyworn Aug09 babe attending college for early childhood education and being blessed with #2 just in time for Valentines Day
This is everywhere.... thanks for letting people know how gross those are!
I use either cloth pads that I made from an old towel (SO comfortable...) or if I'm in town, organic cotton disposable pads. I had the diva cup and loved it, but now I'm in the mood for something else.
And when I say I 'made' them... I cut up an old towel and fold them in half. Voila!
Me, DS, and DD Grateful to the baby I lost for sticking around long enough to teach me what I needed to know so badly We love our forest valley home, our goats and chickens, and wild harvested food-medicine
Gross gross gross.
I am so very glad that I stopped using applicator tampons ten years ago. Ordering Amazon.com Subscribe and Save organic tampons, no applicator is a great way to get a BFP!!!!
