So, yeah, we lost my son's DS a while back. We've turned the house upside-down looking for it, but can't find the stupid thing. Anyone "see" it anywhere? It's red. His birthday is on Thursday and he's getting a couple new games, and if we can't find it we're going to have to buy him a new one (disclaimer: if he had lost it, there would be no new one, but since we lost it, I feel it's only fair). So if anyone can help...

So were you guys playing with it, or transporting it...how did it get lost?  I totally can't see stuff like that, but I can try to help with the logical part of trying to find it. LOL

We took it away as punishment, and DH hid it so well that he can't find it anymore :lol Last time I remember seeing it was on top of the fridge, but I can't be sure that was after we had taken it away, and we've since bought a new fridge so it wouldn't be up there anyway.

Maybe it got transferred from the top of the fridge to a high kitchen cupboard?

Is it *behind* the new fridge?

Hubs moved the fridge, and he's checked all the cupboards in the kitchen. Pretty sure it's not behind the new one but I can double-check tonight.

Looks like you owe the kid a new DS.  And for the future he should probably find a new place to hide it from himself as... you guys suck at punishment!Sheepish.gif

Forgot to update - we found the stupid thing.  Two weeks AFTER his birthday.  So now we have two.  It was under the couch, the same couch that I pulled away from the wall and checked under with a broom handle and everything.  I knew we'd find it after we bought a new one.

awwwwww shedding a few tears here of nostalgia. my mom would do the same. she'd lose it by hiding it so well and she'd always come to me for help to find it and i would.

and now i have become her.

now my brains even play a trick on me. it remembers WRONG - that too with full confidence. and once i find it at the right place i remember oh yeah my memory was from two weeks ago.

but i'm glad you guys found it.

now you have backup in case hubby hides it too well again. winky.gif

Too bad I didn't see this earlier - I was going to say the couch!! We just found DD's MP3 player in the couch after several months! She was already saving up to buy a new one.

We have a designated time out basket in out room for toys that we take away, on top of our high boy dresser.  They always go into the same place.  If my DS takes something out of the timeout spot (which would involve him getting a step ladder), it goes into the firesafe.  It keeps us from losing his things.  I am responsible for toys in timeout, other than that, everyone is responsible for their own possessions.

I opened this thread becuase dh recently lost his 8" chef's knife.  He'd used it & then couldn't figure out where it went.  It ended up in the trash & he didn't find it until he looked there at least twice.

Reading through the thread, I'm reminded of this: if punishment worked, jail would be free of repeat offenders.
