We don't have a fireplace or a chimney in our new house.
My 7 year old is very concerned about how Santa is going to get into our house...
How does Santa get into your house if you don't have the traditional chimney :)
We have a Santa Key that hangs on the door knob of the front door. I bought it from Hallmark a few years back.
Specifically the first one with the red ribbon. The kids really like the idea.
We have a Santa key too. One of the kids made it as a craft many, many years ago. There's a little poem printed out in holiday colours and fancy font. I can't recall it but I think we are decorating today or tomorrow, so I can post it later after we get out all of the boxes. I'm sure you can find similar poems on-line. The poem is pasted onto red and green construction paper. The whole thing is decorated. The key hangs in the middle, tied on with ribbon.
The key itself was an old spare that no longer fit any locks in the house we lived in at the time. I think we probably told the kids that Santa's magic would make it work, but I don't recall now.
It's ancient, torn and tattered now. We still hang it up every year, even when we live in a house with a chimney, and the kids are 19 and 16!
He knocks on our door and we let him in. He stays and visits with us for a few minutes and has some coffee and cookies. On his way out he somehow always manages to leave little bits of his red suit and snow...

This is so interesting, the different ways Santa gets in. I love it.
We just told DD that Santa comes in the front door. I really like the Santa Key idea, though, and we might have to adopt it.
