I was doing laundry tonight and heard and on an off high pitched noise.  I thought my washing machine was making the noise and dreaded the thought of having it fixed or buying a new machine.  Then, after the load finished and the noise didn’t, I realized I have a cricket in the house!  I’ve narrowed down the location but cannot find him.

I would really love to get this little guy out of the house…for his sake and ours!

Any tips to find and catch a cricket?

In case I cannot find him, how long do they live?  I looked online and the answers were so varied (I read one week to months).  I love the sound of crickets outside but it is a bit overwhelming indoors.

If I can't find him I guess we will have good luck and happiness coming our way.

That was my first thought. Sorry I don't have any good suggestions, other than trying some typical pest control to drive him out such as bay leaves or oil of cloves.

Maybe your good luck will be to find him and get rid of him quickly.

Thanks

The next day he was gone (or dead).  He was somewhere near the door; I am hoping he got out.

We've had a cricket in our kitchen for at least a week. It's still going strong living indoors! Evidently, they are omnivorous critters. Yours probably found it's way out.
