We don't really video game but we are considering getting one for Christmas.I think we could use it on occasion on days when we are stuck inside and I'm hoping to maybe get a workout game.Anyway, how concerned should I be about the camera/sensor thing?Does it HAVE to be connected to the internet? You guys are probably going to think I'm crazy lol but I worry about hackers and that stuff...

Do you already have an Xbox? The Kinect is an accessory for the Xbox 360 and comes as part of the new Xbox One. If you don't already have a 360 you can't get just a Kinect. If all you are interested in is some casual gaming and fitness software you would probably be better off buying a Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit. The whole bundle will cost you MUCH less than getting an Xbox and a Kinect. Xbox would be better if you're also interested in media streaming or anything like that.

Hope this helps!

We have the kinect accessory and we don't use internet with our xbox.  It's great, I have the dance game thingy that I play with my younger son and it's so fun to learn the dances.  He loves playing star wars with it, jumping up and down and getting sweaty imaginatively swinging his 'light saber' around.  It's good for bitterly cold days when we are inside and they have rambunctious energy to expend.
