I would like to thank my mother for encouraging me to read so that one day I would grow up and read message boards.

I would like to thank my son who has given me cause to poke around this place.

I would like to thank all of the fine ladies at MDC for helping to make this happen.

I would like to thank Gemini for allowing me to buy 500 of her posts two weeks ago. Without Gemini, my quest for senior member status would have taken me into my 40s.

I would like to thank Cynthia for accepting my $25.

I would like to thank my husband for not raising an eyebrow when I just told him about the donation and the reason.

And for all of those I have forgotten to thank, thank you.

I am so honored to be here.

Now I need a title.

Perhaps something descriptive --

"Mountain Mama" -- I will be one in about 10 days.

Or something totally random --

"Ass over teakettle"

Can you say "ass" here?

Gosh, I'm getting all weepy here. :cry

I forgot to take a bow for all of my hard work (particularly in earning the $25):

Thank you, pilesoflaundry, for pointing out that I can say ass here. Glad to know that I've got that word at my disposal should I ever need it. You know, sometimes you just need to say "ass." It would be ashame if the software changed the word to something like "bottom" or "backside." "Bottom over tea kettle" just doesn't do it. "My husband was acting like a real donkey's backside" just doesn't do it.

"Oscar Worthy." Hmmm. It certainly has a nice ring to it, but now "ass over tea kettle" is beginning to grow on me. Though as I was out shopping for a mattress pad, I realized that many days, that is my actual location. Sure, I'm in Central California. Right here, ass over tea kettle. And I think I could get more buy-in from my husband with "ass over tea kettle." Now and then we dare each other to work a phrase or two into a casual conversation. "Ass over tea kettle" was one of his faves for a while. In fact, he would work it in at random (without being dared) -- ordering lunch: "I nearly got kicked ass over tea kettle this morning, I think I need to order the tiger tail roll."

So it is becoming clear to me that I need to work in "ass over tea kettle" somewhere, especially after dedicating a whole paragraph to it. But where? It's clearly a big life-changing decision that I need to ponder a bit more.

ROFL, Perhaps someone will DDDDC you and give you that title. Is DDDDC a verb? Oh well, if not, forgive me.

I've made my decision and PMd it to Cynthia. Just thought I'd give a heads-up to anyone who has been pacing the floors over this.

I love "Ass Over Teakettle"...I have also heard, "Ass over bandbox", (whatever the hell a bandbox is/was...I think it is for those stiff collar bands that turn of the century gents wore....and since they came off the shirt, I am presuming they had to be stored....in a bandbox?)

I have never heard "ass over bandbox." My husband will be tickled to hear about this.

Bandbox:

Definition: \Band"box`\, n.
A light box of pasteboard or thin wood, usually cylindrical,
for holding ruffs (the bands of the 17th century), collars,
caps, bonnets, etc.

http://www.hyperdictionary.com/dictionary/bandbox

And I just discovered from that handy dictionary that teakettle is, in fact, one word. It's all over the web as two, so probably both are basically acceptable.

Back to the drawing board. MDC doesn't allow profanity in the titles.
I am such a bad seed.

You know, this is probably a really good rule. Who knows what some of you gals might come up with. LOL
