I believe most justices were appointed during the Reagan era, so the court is mostly conservative republic types. I think Carter got to appoint Ginsburg and that's about it for Democrats?

I'm not sure I can remember all of the justices but here goes:

Rehnquist - Conservative
Scalia - Conservative
Thomas - Conservative
O'Connor - Moderate
Kennedy - Conservative/Moderate
White - Liberal
Ginsberg - Liberal

I'm missing two I think - that's bad but it's the best I can do right now!

Souter, Stevens and Breyer are the missing justices - all considered liberal. White no longer sits on the Court.

O'Conner is pretty moderate, but she seems to be getting more conservative in her advancing age.

Dragonfly---

Thank you sooooo much! That was fascinating, and I am being 100% serious. I bookmarked it and may print it out.

Thanks again,
Kay
