I think I do. Im really not that neurotic or even a type A personality but cleaning and having a clean home is very important to me. Any amount of clutter gives me a headache. I dont know why. A lot of the houses of other mamas I go to are really cluttered(laundry everywhere, things piled up all over the place, etc) and not that clean in general (bathrooms, kitchen, etc are not disgustingly dirty but could use a good cleaning) And whenever Im there (which is often so its not like I caught them on a bad day) I dream about bringing a bucket of my cleaning supplies over and cleaning their homes. I feel like there is no polite way to offer this to people. I have tried to say things like "thanks for inviting me over, if you ever need help with cleaning Ill be glad too. I love to clean" and they say things like "nah I dont need help, Im always on top of stuff like that, but thanks for the offer" and I feel like saying "NO YOURE NOT!LET ME HELP!" but of course I cant. Anyone else like this? Am I just crazy??

No, but I do have a strange affliction--I suffer from wanting to move posts about books, tv and movies from TAO to Media. Everytime I see one, I wish I had magical moderator moving properties. I've never admitted it until now. And it's only media posts in TAO, not other ones. ???

I've never felt like offereing cleaning services unless it was like a co-op situation or something.

Maybe I should. I would clean all your places if you lived in Tallahassee! I seriously lay in bed at night and dream about cleaning. When DH asks me what Im thinking about I say "cleaning" and he laughs. This cant be healthy.

OOh I should mention that part of cleaning/organizing dreams involve throwing away what I feel is useless/needless junk. Someone once told me I should be on some show on TV called Clean Sweep.

Me! Me!! Pick me!!!

Sadly, my house isn't as clean as it should be (I'd like it to be - it's just difficult with a 10mo trying to walk and a dh who thinks the whole house is his laundry basket/dish depository).

We have a dark brown/rust shag carpet, orange and gold linoleum (complete with orange countertop) in the main bathroom, and a lovely brown/orange/used to be cream/gold linoleum in the kitchen. A few months ago the stove repairman left his tools on the kitchen floor because he forgot and couldn't see them when he left.

I'm working on my routines and stuff from Flylady, but have a loooong way to go.

Seriously, you could go out and either clean houses or get people (like me!) that need help organizing or purging/tossing/recycling their stuff and probably make decent money.

eta: Yup, I was also thinking of the show Clean Sweep. It's on TLC - www.discovery.com, click on TLC. They make the owners throw out half their crap, redecorate the room and organize the stuff they put back.

(If you're curious, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2010, and yes, it's a busy house)

Leah! My OCD partner! Yep, I feel the same way but I've went steps further...I've actually cleaned my aunt's house (I was there doing laundry back when I didn't have a washer and she had an appointment that day and left)...she came home to a clean house. :LOL

I cleaned her daughter (my cousin)'s apartment one day too. She was due to have a baby soon and was at an appointment.

I regularly clean up at my mom's house, but the kids are usually running around and making messes so I clean up, do up dishes, run the sweeper etc.

Ok, Lish and Leah, if you ever want to say vacation in Cananda, say on a nice farm, near many lovely hiking and riding trails, well......I don't even lock my doors, just come on in, if I'm not here the dogs are with me!!! Cleaning supplies are under the kitchen sink (of course it's a disorganized mess under there, but you'll have fun) I love buying new and wonderful cleaning supplies, I just don't actually get around to using them enough. Especially with how sick I've been with this pregnancy!

That's me,too! Although I am going to go on a MAJOR decluttering binge as soon as my dc's are back in school. At least that is the plan...It's hard to walk through our basement storage area. :

Okay, so I got to this post way too late and now there's a line up ahead of me... but when you get to Shannon's, I'm in the same province, so you can get both of our houses done in the same trip, kay? Think of how well travelled you'd be when you're done... it'll be an investment...

I only clean in spurts - that are about a year apart from each other (I'm exaggerating a bit) and I never want to clean anyone else's houses either. You should talk to my Mother and SIL, though, they may have the same affliction you do, but unfortunately, they don't clean my house for me guilt free. But I guilt easily...

I have a similar affliction, minus the urge to clean my own house For some reason, I find it much more fun to clean somebody else's house. Or I have the urge to clean up somebody's else's house but don't have the urge to clean up our place that often. It was stronger when I was younger. When I used to babysit, I'd always leave the houses cleaner and more organized than I found them.

Of course now I realize while some may have liked that, others may have been annoyed if I put stuff away and they couldn't find it.....

HECK no that's not me. My house is crazy looking. It isn't dirty, but it's completely disorganized. My mum has always said my space "looks like a bomb was dropped in it". And that's fine with me most of the time.
There are a million things I'd rather be doing like playing with my son, gardening, cooking etc. Friends who come over know that's how I am, so they're fine with it. And in fact I'm sure it works well to make them feel better about being clean freaks. hahaha
It's just one of those things where I figure life is too short to spend all my time working on it. Every once in a while I'll have a big whip through and get things in shape, but they quickly spiral down again. Particularly as my husband is WAY more disorganized than me and cleans up next to never.

I don't like other people cleaning my house. I like things done a particular way. Honestly I would be offended. My house is as clean as I want it to be while allowing my two small children to be children and to enjoy themselves in my home.

I would really like to help you with this problem - so my address is .... :

Come on over.

No, can't say that I ever get the urge to clean someone else's place!

And, for the record, you would go nuts in my place. It is very small and way too cluttered!

Ditto (except only one small child and a packrat hubby )
I would be so upset if I thought this is what my friends were focusing on while in my home!

Yes! Most of my friends always have just STUFF everywhere; you need to move things to sit on the chairs, the tables are covered with a million things, etc.- it drives me nuts. I actually avoid visiting my in-laws because they haven't thrown anything away since they built their house in 1970; I feel like the walls are closing in on me. (My house is by no means spotless- clutter bugs me much more than cobwebs- but when people are coming over, shouldn't they have a place to rest their butt and a glass of water?)
