My MIL craved dirt. She satisfied it by eating mushrooms.

Your MIL probably had a vitamin deficiency.

Me on the other hand, all I wanted the first trimester w/this baby was a foot-long Subway Tuna fish sandwich, w/lettuce, tomatoes, lots of pickes and lots of olives. I would have loved to eat this 3x/day every day. Unfortunately w/the mercury I couldn't so I had to restrict myself.

I can't remember what I craved w/my son's pregnancy though...hmmm. I just remembered! I wanted KFC original recipe chicken. But I was a complete veg then, so no dice. I would go in there to get a biscuit, but sadly, it wasn't the same.

A Subway day, was a great day

it wasn't really weird, but I ate chocolate ice cream like every day. I wanted to crave avacados b/c I love them, and wanted an excuse to eat them daily.

But I couldn't go near salsa or even a can of chicken broth.

I don't remember any "have to have it" cravings when I was pg with Griff, although I did suddenly really really like Hagen Daaz coffee ice cream. Mmmmm.

This time, I'm really into the sour stuff. Lemons, lemonade, avocados with plenty of lime and salt and pepper, lemon sorbet. And I even actually had a craving for pickles and ice cream the other day. Seriously. I felt like such a cliche.

I craved sushi when I was pregnant big time! (And Im vegan!) I remember spending a lot of time researching and trying to convince myself that fish don't feel pain, but alas I stuck to my convictions and didnt eat it. I stuck with avocado sushi rolls instead.

Fish soup! And I don't like seafood. I just wanted the broth. We went out in the pouring rain to a Chinese restaurant to get it too.

Green olives, lots and lots of them. And pre-mixed in-the-carton chocolate milk. Yum.

With ds I craved cigarettes for the first month. I have never smoked and am an avid runner, so it was so strange. I didn't smoke any, but if I smelled anything, especially Marlboro Reds, it was like, yum.

After a month, though, if I smelled anything smoky, it made me nauseous.

I also loved the Texas Grill Fritos for the first trimester, which if you knew how bland my taste buds are, this was so bizarre.

With dd, all I wanted was mozerella cheese. I ate cheese sticks like crazy.

In all three of mine I had a horrible urge to crunch ice cubes. In the first one I had this insane ritual of eating the tops of the ice cubes out of the tray when they were just about halfway frozen. It disapeared the day he was born.

16 years later- kind of forgot how crazy it was, it shows up again in #2 about 4-5 months along. Same with #3. I craved crushed ice and knew what gas stations had the best in their pop machines. I would limit myself, try to control myself but nothing worked. As it was winter, if it snowed, I would eat handfulls of fresh snow. Which I would never do otherwise. I have never been adicted to anything- never smoked even but boy did I understand what it must feel like. A lot of people said that it was likely a mineral or vitamin deficiency but nothing seemed to help it and the minute I gave birth- it was gone. I think that wins the wierd prize!!!

All I could eat with DD was soup and potatos... the whole time!

With this one I can eat everything, but, I have wanted tuna- I am trying to keep clear for the most part, I let myself have some once a week. And pop- I dont even really like pop, but I have been wanting it, and sweets, so I have been making myself sugar free jello, pudding and such. Funny with all the crap food I have been eating I have only lost weight.

hmmmm nothing weird. Just fresh strawberries and cheese all the time. I mean ALL the time. And sashimi, but I'd indulge only once in a great while. Starbucks ice cream.

Any vanilla smell made me wanna puke.

Onions in my first pregnancy. I would stop at Sonic once a week and get onion rings.

Garlic in my second. I literally ate garlic and olive oil noodles every day. Sometimes I would take cloves, fry them up in a little oil, and eat them. My step daughter thought it was the most disgusting thing she had ever seen.

Oh, gads...

Let's see...

With DS1 it was chicken fajitas and dr. pepper Fried Chicken, as well.
DD and DS2 (twins) it was... gasp stir fry and chinese food. DH said if he had stir fry again in the next decade it would be too soon.
DS3 it was pizza, stir fry (! Poor DH !), and grilled chix and veggies.
DS4 it was grilled chicken, steamed veggies, rice, focacia bread and... chocolate.

Yep, except none of the gas stations had "good enough" ice. I was sending dh out to fast food places to get me ice. LOL And it depended on my mood! White Castle has very flat, square ice cubes, very crunchy. But Sonic has very very good crushed ice. Funny story.........dh pulled up to Sonic just as they were closing, and he's like "Please, all I want is a cherry limeade with lots of ice, my wife is pregnant, and she's craving the ice!!!" It was a woman about my age working the drive thru, and she gave him my drink, AND an extra cup of just ice! LOL

It took about a month after ds was born to stop craving ice for me.

It was Taco Bell with my bson, and I don't remember anything major with my dd, but I did learn that Spaghetti-Os and ruby red grapefruit juice together are a bad thing, no matter how good it sounds at the time. Ds was the aforementioned ice, and ranch dressing. But it had to be the spicy ranch from Outback. I would take cheddar cheese, cut it into slices, salt it, and dip it. YUM.

Lemonade, lemon ice, lemon pudding, lemon merangue pie (notice the theme?)

Ohhh... & a sour pickle wrapped in a slice of ham & maybe a chunk of cheddar in there, too.

But later on I had lots & lots of food aversions - to the point that we went to a Buffet for dinner several times a week 'cause DH was worried I wouldn't eat anything - I could always find at least something there that didn't gross me out. (Now, I wish that had kept up after DD was born!!)

With DS#1: Chocolate soymilk, frozen waffles, clementines.
With DS#2: Lattes, chocolate, any kind of cheese.

Okay, these aren't that weird, huh???

Oh, eggs with DS#2. Lots of poached egg breakfasts.

I am not a pop drinker, but I craved fizzy drinks soo bad. I ended up mixing orange juice concentrate with club soda.
Spicy tuna roll( sushi). I wanted it so bad. I wasnt supposed to eat the raw fish during pregnancy, but one day I just couldnt help myself... the waitress gave me a lecture.
Oh.. and beer smelled sooooo good ! Didnt have any but just the smell...!!!!

Hmm, lets see...
wasabi- we would get sushi from Trader Joes since I didn't feel comfortable eating the real stuff.
HAD to have wasabi regularly!!!!!!
peanut butter(the real kind, with nut chunks) and bacon sandwhiches.OK, I grew up in the south and my dad used to make them once in a blue moon on the weekends.SO yummy. I know why Elvis liked them
I did put it on Ezekiel bread btw- so not TOO unhealthy
in the last trimester- veggies and minerals
Chocolate and lots of it.
Ben and Jerry were good friends of mine:LOL

Due with number 5 in August. We do all that crunchy stuff.

In my third trimester- I woke dp up at 3 am and made him take me to IHOP (I couldn't drive the car at that point- my belly hit the steering wheel ) to have a chicken fried chicken breakfast (chicken, gravy, pancakes, eggs and hashbrowns). I don't eat meat, eggs and very little dairy... so he thought it was pretty hysterical that I wanted all that.

Sour cream and onion Lays potato chips. And lemonade by the gallon!

My GMIL says that she can tell what a woman is having by what she craves. Sourish things mean a boy, sweetish things mean a girl.
