I just came home from the theatre...a moms night out that a few friends have been planning for a few months. We went to see the musical Wicked in NY. It was a very good show, but I found myself just totally distracted by the costumes. I am sitting here now just thinking about all of the gorgeous fabrics, and wishing I could look at them up close, and touch them and wear them and own them...

When I think about it, when I watch movies, it's the same thing, I get totally sucked in by good costumes...especially things with lots of rich fun fabrics, or sci-fi outfits....

So, I've decided that in my next life I want to be a costume designer....

What are some of the things you all would like to do in your 'next' life?

that would be a lot of fun.

I want would to be a very different color, shape, size and person in a very different place than I am now. And whatever that holds for me.

That sounds like fun, gardenmom.

I am fascinated by artists. Even contemporary artists, illustartors, nature journalers...

Okay, this may sound crazy...but why wait until your next life? I know you have a little one now and can't devote yourself to it today, but in a few years...why not give it a try? Do designs for a regional theater company or even school play or something, and see what comes out of it! If costume design is something you love and have passion and talent for, you shouldn't wait until your next life.

kofduke, I think that's what she meant. I have no idea what I want to do - school secretary sounds good, no daycare, but that's about it. Very high falutin'!!

Yes, that is kind of what I meant. My next life being my real next life, or whatever lifestyle may develop after dd and any possible siblings grows up a bit...(and I'm already 35, yikes!) Of course, dh has appointed me "queen of unfinished projects and new ideas" which is sadly true : , so I will probably have some other thing high on my priority list by then, who knows?

Meanwhile, I'll just drool and think about it some more!

I thought you meant "next life" like when you "came back" after you died. Sorry.

GM, that sounds like so much fun! Do what you love *and* get paid for it!

I am already doing what i would in a "next life". I love what i do, and wouldn't change a thing! Thankfully, i haven't had to wait until a next life to do it...lucky me!

Don't be sorry....I kind of meant that too...in case I don't get to it this time around, you know?

Sweetbaby3, do you mean the being a mom part? Or something else that you also do? I my daughter and being a mom/sahm/wahm and am no rush to send her off to college right now (at 2yo haha) , so I'm not trading that for fashion design, or anything!

AHA! So that is why you are drawn to LOTR!!! Have you watched the extra features about desining the costumes?

As for myself......I would like to be healthy in my next life. I would also like to be a huh? I can't think of anything....I'll get back to you on this one...

I'm still working on being a rock star in this one. I might be a bellydancing rock star...the possibilities are infinite

I was also looking at bellydancing costumes in my class & thinking I should break out the old sewing machine more!

I want to be a midwife and make greeting cards. And write a book about motherhood. One of those feminist books, but from a SAHM perspective.

Good luck with costume designing - it sounds awesome!
