No, I don't think she was trying to impress me, I think she just has more money than she knows what to do with! She pulled up in convertable Jag with the dog in the front passenger seat. It was all I could do not to laugh--the thing is about 30 lbs overweight and she hands me this food and tells me it's the only thing he'll eat!! Yeah, he doesn't look like he's had many hungry days :LOL Dh was proud of me for not using my favorite response of "You seldom find the carcass of a starved dog beside a full bowl of food"

I feed a mostly raw diet and I buy it already manufactured and spend about $8 a day on a small dog and three cats. What the heck was the name of this food?? :LOL

Your 4 animals combined might eat less food than this one dog. What do they weigh combined, and how much does this large breed doggie weigh?

I used to check up on and feed our old neighbors' two (quite large) iguanas once in a while when she would go away. They ate mesclun salad greens, frenched green beans, grated parsnips, fresh raspberries or other fresh fruit, and special vitamins.

At the time, we used to joke about how they ate better than us! I can't imagine what they have cost her over all these years. :LOL

My dog weighs 20 pounds and the cats are 6, 8, and 11 pounds each. They get treats of Wysong and Wellness canned occassionally but this stuff sounds out there, even by my standards. I gotta find some of this to look at! :LOL

ANd, I thought I spent a lot on dog food. We have one 90lb dog. It costs me about $1.70 a day to feed him food that doesn't have anything he's allergic to in it. Sheesh!

He's about 80 lbs but should be about 50 or so. the food looks pretty good and it is that Merrick stuff.
The weird thing is, it's still processed food!! I mean she could feed this dog the highest of high quality frozen raw food for less than half what this stuff is costing her!! As for what else he'll eat--he tried to steal the cat food last night--so I'm guessing if she waited him out for an hour or so, he's probably eat some other stuff :LOL

Hey, if she can afford the overpriced dog food, and enjoys buying it for her pooch, let her. It's not like she's hurting anybody, and she's supporting the people who work for the Merrick comany, right?

speaking of overweight dogs, there was a beagle at the shelter i volunteer at that was SOOOO overweight. it could barely get up and move around. i tried taking him out but he just wanted to lay there so i hung out with him for a little while. i dont think he got that big on just food, he must have another condition making him gain so much weight...but wow was he fat! he looked like a little basset hound.

I was walking into the grocery store the other day and saw an elderly (75+) lady pushing a stroller. As she got closer, I saw that she had her DOG in it.

Now, I realize its POSSIBLE the dog was injured or something. But I didn't get that vibe. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of taking your dog for a walk? (to be fair, dog didn't seem to be overly fat or anything)
