So I am at the walk up ATM, there is someone in front of me using the atm, I stand back a good amount of space but close enough that it is obvious I am in line to use it. SO this lady comes up and uses the counter right next to the atm, ok, I think maybe she is going to fill out a deposit/withdrawal slip and bring it up to the teller. The man finishes at the atm, I wait till he steps away before I go charging in, so this lady proceeds to jump in front of me, BUT I was quicker, I kinda nudge her (ok, I did it on purpose.... ) and use the atm.

Now the whole time I am using the atm she is practically breathing down my neck, and pacing back and forth REALLY close behind me. This was really making me mad and thought it was very RUDE! Am I right, how far behind are you supposed to stay?

btw, I took my sweet-cheek time at the atm....

That's my kind 'o woman!! (you, not the other one!)

I stand about 8' back or more, depending on the location and all. In a convenience store, I stand closer, but not because I want to. I always make it obvious that I'm not looking or 'scary.'

good for you. I'm a Jersey girl, so I take no crap. You need to stand about 10 feet back in my opinion. And if someone is to close, I look over my shoulder and give them the eye. I even cover my hand pressing the keys with my other hand so the person behind me doesn't see.

I'm the same way in check-out lines. It drives me crazy...

She was very rude!!! I always stand a bit back, maybe 5 or 6 feet, maybe more... for privacy, and out of courtesy... It's polite to stand back, and BEHIND the person (not to the side, unless that's the only space etc). Never close enough to see ANYthing...

I expect the same from people behind me...

Wow--you all would probably think I am rude --I stand about 4 feet back.

She was rude. This is what I call a "be kind, for everyone is fighting a great battle" moment.
