I just gave some Wonkalicious Fun Dip candy to my daughters for Valentines Day. (In fact, I had some, too.) EVEN THOUGH it is made of nothing but sugar and red #40. And EVEN THOUGH it is made by Nestle.

And it brought back happy memories from my childhood.

And I will now step aside and prepare to be flamed by healthy Nestle boycotters.

Wife and Mama who homeschools-- mostly in the kitchen!

I used to eat the stick first and then lick my finger to get the rest

Mmmm I used to love those!!!

My dd can't have the red 40, so I didn't even realize they were made my Nestle.

Am I horrible to LOVE getting Nestle candy as a gift? Hey, then it's not my "fault"

Hand over your MDC cards, mamas. You are on probation.

We will be checking your fingers and tongues for red dye #40 stains randomly.

Yum! I used to Llllloooovvee Lik A Maid (umm...still do, actually). I can't get away with sneaking anything with my DD...she smells it on my breath from halfway across the room!

You may not be able to turn LikAMaid into KoolAid, but you CAN turn KoolAid Powder into Lik A Maid (without the stick, though). Just add some sugar and use a popscicle stick to lick it. :nana: (my red tongue...guilty as charged)

Yes! The stick is the best part. Also I remember those pills you can chew for lactose intolerance (lactaid i think) taste just like the stick. Or they used to at least.

You know you have an MDC child. . .
I'm totally LOL to see this thread--my 6yo DD got a Fun Dip as at school today and she tells me, "I really want to eat it but it says Willy Wonka on it and I know Willy Wonka candy's made by Nestle." Of course I let her eat it, Red 40 and all .

My ds ripped open one that he got in his Valentine sack from school. It shot all over the table. The table was clean, so I pushed it into a pile and licked it up. No, I'm not kidding. Preggie brain?

Well, at least you didn't snort it.

I loved that stuff...I made a game out of making sure I got all the powder up with the first stick, then I'd eat the stick stub that was left over along with the virgin one.

We used to pretend we were snorting coke and snort crushed up Smarties when I was in grade school. This was the eighties and we saw it on TV. We had no idea what they were doing, just that they were "cool." Let me tell you, snorting Smarties will give you a heck of a sinus infection.

Man, that stuff was the BOMB when I was growing up! I had a ritual for it; I'd carefully rip the two flavors apart from each other so it fit perfectly in my hand, and enjoy them one flavor at a time. And I couldn't wait for the powder to be gone so I could take that first satisfying *crunch" of the stick. Does anyone remember when they changed the stick? It got smaller and they made it smoother and harder, somehow. And it wasn't an improvement, either :

I haven't had any in years, and am now sad that the only crap Liam got in his playgroup Valentines was a red sucker with a white cream stamp on the one side. I think I might just get off here and stamp my tongue with little white hearts now.
