My mom is en route here via Amtrak. She is very ill but had to take one last trip to spend time where I live and quality time with her grandson.
There have been several delays and her oxygen supply is starting to run out. Thanks to an incredible man in TX, she will be picking some up at the next stop.
I'm a nervous wreck. This trip was my idea, thinking it would be good for her, and my dad agreed. He is on the train with her.
Could use some good Mama vibes coming my way.
Thanks ladies.

First and foremost I should be hoping that the oxygen will actually be there for them. The train stops at 3am. I was on the phone for 2+ hours trying to arrange it. I am not going to be able to sleep tonight.
What a rude awakening that my dad has aged. This man could handle anything once before and he was too panicked to handle it.

Sending clean air vibes her way.

my mom has a pulmonary related heart condition and shouldn't fly as a result. My parents took a train from LA to New Orleans one year instead, and the worst part for my mom was when they would make stops one guy would stand right outside the train and smoke. Amtrak took very good care of my mom, and they had a good trip.

Thank you all!
She picked up her oxygen at the train stop in San Antonio and will be here tomorrow at 2am.
I can't wait!
I would like to do something nice for the oxygen-company man in TX who went above and beyond his job to help get the O2 there in the middle of the night. Any suggestions?

~~Your Mom~~ Let us know when she arrives. A good friend of mine recently traveled on Amtrak & became very sick- Amtrak was amazing at the lengths they went to to take care of her until she reached her destination.

Send Amtrak a glowing letter of how wonderful the guy was. They'll probably put it in his file and that might help him out next time he's up for a raise.

I'm glad to hear that things are going smoothly! I hope that you have a wonderful visit.

I have two ideas for what you can do for the hero-of-the-hour:

1) Send a glowing letter to his supervisor and/or the head of his company.
2) Send him a nice letter, maybe with a picture of your mom and your ds.

I think your Mom is wonderful to travel such a distance not feeling well.

Enjoy your visit to the fullest

I'm sending good vibes for a peaceful and fun visit! I hope you get lots of time to spend together.

I'd send a note to the guys supervisor, and another to the guy, along with a coupon for a dozen donuts or a lb of fair-trade coffee.

Sounds like she will arrive safely, so I will send good vibes for a wonderful, relaxing and healthy visit with you!

Peaceful mama to three blissfully-birthed and incredible small people: dd10, dd7 and ds5. Always awed and so thankful to be a midwife.

Well, she made it!

I think this trip will be so good for her, although I'm not looking forward to putting her back on the train next week.

Thanks for all the good vibes Mamas!
