...jade is going to be a "vampire cheerleader" for halloween, complete with poms poms, fangs, and dripping blood.

I can't figure out if I am doing something very very right, or very very wrong.

I vote for very, very right.

I am SOOO glad Lilly isn't into the princess stuff. She goes back and forth between wanting to be a pirate, a zombie doctor (saw it in an ad - cute costume), or a mummy. Now of course, we already have a lion costume for her ...

LOL! Something right as far as I am concerned. Not because the vampire cheerleader is better (or worse) than the pretty princess, but because she has it in her to choose something that is not as popular with her age/peers. Good for her and you. Dd was a dead bride last year. Bring on the scary.

You're doing something right.

Yay, another girl who isn't being "girly".

Dd is going as a ninja, patterned after Snake eyes, from GI Joe. It's only natural, as in reality, she probably has the perfect personality for it.

Molly is going to be a patriotic cheerleader. As long as her belly gets to show, she's good with whatever the costume is. Originally she wanted to be a belly dancer. I think a vampire cheerleader sounds much cooler. But your kid is hipper than mine.

DD has no interest in being one of the myriad forms of "princesses" that seems to be all I can find amongst the pre-packaged costumes for her age. She's only just turned 3, so that may change...but so far I am glad to steer clear of princessy stuff.

We found a horse costume today at Goodwill for $2.99!! Score!

That is very cool!

My DD usually goes as a monster (this year, the Grim Reaper), but last year she went costume shopping with DH and came home with a "Gothic High prom queen" costume. I was like "what is this?" but we did some goth makeup and it was actually an awesome costume.

Sigh. Mine is going as a fairy princess ballerina. Only because she decided a fairy princess ballerina soccer player costume might be too complicated.

Fair princess ballerina soccer player costume? Love it.

My four year old is going to be SpiderGIRL. It's a Spiderman costume, but since she is not a man, it's really a Spidergirl costume. So sayeth she. Since the baby didn't have an opinion, she's going to be the Green Goblin, Spiderman's nemesis.

My son is going to be a fairy/princess/bee/ballerina/thingy bopper. Whatever hybrid he comes up with from our extensive dress up collection.

I do believe my youngest son will be either a dragon or a bee. Or himself. Sometimes that's pretty darn scary.

My six year old son will be the "thump machine" (long long story)

and my six year old daughter will be a witch (yeah, I know)

and my 11 year old son will be Harry Potter.

we're so original.

In a way, how appropriate. One day, that may well be true.

My DD is going to be a princess. Snow White. It's what she wanted, and I'm proud of her, even if it is too "pretty pretty princess" for some. Some days, she's a ballerina princess, some days she's a doctor princess, and some days, she's just plain old Snow White, if you ask her what she's going to be for Halloween. Mostly, she just likes the twirly skirt.

DD requested to be a princess this year, but she picked out her "princess colors" for her dress. Hot lime green and lavender. It's one bright dress, and not in the usual way.

There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

A very good friend of mine who is 7 now was a ladybug vampire a few years back.It was hilarious. She got her ladybug costume on and we thought we were all ready to go until she started yelling "wait wait what about my blood?".It was so funny to see peoples faces. Here they think this cute little ladybug is coming to the door and then she would get close enough for them to see her bloody fangs. Ahh...too funny!

Nothing wrong with princesses. Nothing wrong with vampire cheerleaders

My dd is going as Dusclops (a Pokemon):

Dusclops

She's wearing a gray sweatsuit with stripes drawn on it and then a big felt eye sewn onto the hood of the sweatshirt. She is loving it! She's a Pokemon freak

I don't know about the cheerleader part... where do they come up with these things so young? A cheerleader or a princess... what difference does it make?

mama g, that rawks. I would love to see her in full regalia terrorizing the republicans in your neighborhood (easy, people. just a joke. sort of)

and GWH, your kid's costume sounds sweeeeet! what an imagination

Over here, I'm trying to tell dd that her idea of Stephen Hawking probably won't read to well to the general public and she should go for Einstein... the baby MUST be Elmo :

We inadvertently have a theme going...but what can you expect when you are a total King Arthur geek and raise your dc to be too...much to the utter dismay of your dh.
Add is a black knight
Eli found a dragon costume....it is the CUTEST darn thing I have ever seen and I want to cry when he puts it on
Gwenovere found a purple unicorn costume and HAD to have it

Gwen is really into Princesses...she is 2.5...and we dont have any of that nauseating stuff around...but she still is really into it. She does not like the Barbie princess stuff...she is more apt to put on a dress, grab one of the swords and shields laying around, declare "Im a Primpess" and then make a weird roaring sound and charge at her brothers to whack them with the sword.

Just to make this even longer and more pointless. :
Dh and I were watching the movie King Arthur...dh said "I REALLY hope my Gwen doesnt become like THAT Guinevere" She was very fierce and I think frightened dh. Anyway...next day we are at some festival and Gwen got a baloon shaped into a flower...first thing she did was go running at some random lady yelling YAH YAH and hitting her with her balloon...she wasnt quite 2. Dh was like this and I couldnt stop laughing while apologizing to the poor woman who found it beyond funny.

This is my kids first year TOT'ing and I REALLY hope they dont get scared...they dont like scary things, at all. Dh and I wont be there...my sisters are taking them out.

Ummm...end of my book now.

i think you are doing something right!

one of my good friends daughters (10) is going as the bride of frankenstien complete w/ bloody veil, dead flowers and fangs. She came up with the idea herself after seeing a wedding dress for sale in the window of a thrift shop. Her friends are horrified-they are going as cheerleaders, princesses. Some are even going as jessica simpson and/or brittany. :Puke just and excuse to wear the outfits their mom don't let them wear to school.

My son wants to be transformer who is a member of the justice league who can also fly. We are still working on this one but since he changes his mind pretty much every day I am not sweating it.

Pardon me while I puke.gif

Bea will be a Queen Bee. We've got a sort of bee princess outfit to which I have added a regally large tiara. Considering she will only be 8 months old, that is a lot of power for a tiny girl.

Not princess, Queen!
