My neighbor died yesterday. She asphixiated burning leaves, fell into the fire.I heard the firetrucks, saw the ambulance, but it was past her drive,so I thought it was further down the street.I sent my 15 yr old to go check. We all live on acres here.and yards are huge.Stupid ems had my son id her.Didn't realize how old he was ( he looks grown). One of the ems ladies realized who he was, brought him back to the house.I called one of their daughters.I thought her dad was still in the nursing home after the hip replacement. He was home! I went running over and found where he had fallen, trying to get a water hose. He'd heard her calling.......

I waited 4 hours for the two daughters to show....they don't live that far away.I told them he couldn't stay by himself anymore and not to leave him last night. He's on dialysis.they took him with them last night. They weren't even upset.Blows my mind.on top of that we've all got the stomach bug and guess who woke up with it this morning......when it rains it pours.

Thanks for listening

Oh my, that is HORRIBLE. I am so sorry. It breaks my heart too that her dad was trying to help her . I hope that your son isn't too traumatized, that would be really hard for anyone to see, let alone a kid.

That's terribly sad. What a horrible accident. That must have been quite upsetting to your son. Has he talked to you about what he saw and his feelings?

That is a truely horrible story. That poor father!:
Your son may need to talk to someone about that experience.
I'm sorry that happened. And I would contact the municipality over the EMS having your son ID her. That's so wrong!
(((HUGS)))
Hope you feel better!

I agree that you should contact someone about having your son ID her. The police/fire people didn't bother checking to see if anyone else was home? Scary!

The entire story is so sad. I'm so sorry for the lady who passed away and sorry for her husband who tried to save her but couldn't. I hope the daughters were just in shock and couldn't show how they felt, anything else would be just too horrific to imagine. This must be a very sad day for you. I hope you get over your cold quickly and take some time off for yourself and your son, to try to mend after all of this.

I'm going to put it out there again. I would defenitely contact someone about them having your son identify her. Also I would look into having your son talk to someone.

How sad I'm sorry your son had to ID her, that must have been really hard for him.

Still really raw....Don't know who to get in touch with about the crass handling of her case. This is the same emt dept. that sent a victim of a hit and run to the morgue who was still alive!!!!.I think it made national news.I agree something needs to be said.I just need to figure out who and where. Its a small place,if I don't handle things constructively..........

I am sorry about your neighbor.
The EMS workers should have asked your son's age. You'd think they'd be more sensitive about something like that. They should know that they see terrible injuries and death often, but most people don't.
