Do you think I'm crazy? I'm really excited about it, actually. It cost me $36 for two, beautiful matching dresses for my 4 yo and 2 yo, and I get to keep them for 3 weeks. It's like netflix, for clothes! I wish they had something like it for adults. I received them the other day and don't have to return them until Christmas. We have 3 Christmas parties to go to with the children, so I think it's worth it. Otherwise, I would have had to spend about $25 apiece for a dress they'd probably never wear again.

That's a nice idea. Do you have to send them back fully dry cleaned? I am just curious how that would work. I'd be leary...my children are GOOD at staining things. I make their clothes. I won't be doing that this year though. I've got a LOT going on this year Boo Hoo.

I rented the clothes from an online site. Their policy is incredibly accomodating. If the clothes get stained, you just send them back that way and their "stain experts" get the stains out. You are specifically asked NOT to have the clothes cleaned before returning! (They say, "We know that real children wear the clothes and that things happen." ) Their customer service is awesome, too. I received the clothes the very next day after requesting them online.

I am shocked that they're THAT forgiving. That's really nice. Maybe next wedding we're in....that would save me a LOT of time. My ONLY unmarried friend will likely have my Mom and I making her dress.

I guess since I've secured my girls' Christmas holiday dresses, I can afford to share the link. I edited my first post to link to the site, which is Gaga's.

Costco has great girls and toddler dresses for holidays for 15.99 every year. My parents usually buy her 2 cute dresses for the holidays (velvet and organza this year - one is black and one is light blue).

We bought the $15.99 Costco dresses for thanksgiving this year and my girls LOVED them! Pale pink velour fitted tops with pale pink fake fur cuffs and collar with rosebuds at the waist and a long fluffy pink tulle skirt - if anyone was my christmas card picture thread they were the dresses in the 2nd picture!

that is a FANTASTIC idea. i spent a ridiculous amount of $ on a button down shirt, dress shoes, and a tie (he wore already owned shorts) for my toddler to come to a wedding with us - and who knows if he'll ever wear them again. that site is absolutely bookmarked!

I rented my wedding dress back in 1989. After that, all my younger sisters (3 of them) rented their prom and wedding dresses too.

I bought my wedding dress from a rental place for $50 and then had it altered to make it my own.

Which, btw, this children's clothing rental place also gives an option to buy.

great idea. I always wanted to swap with friends, but never had the right type of friends (most of our close friends had boys). I would never buy the clothes, but always lucked out to have one fall in my lap. We're a very casual family and when we receive a nice dress as a gift I feel awful wearing it just for pictures.

I got DD's dress at TJ Max for $7.00. She's only 9 months, but they had a whole bunch of sizes for that price.

Brilliant! I just spent a fortune on holiday dresses for the girls, and then ended up not even using them for pictures because I couldn't get the styles to match well enough with the size difference. This would have solved everything, and saved me a bunch of money.

That cost seems high to me.
I buy my kids clothes used, so $36 would go a long way, adn then the younger one would get to wear it later.

I just wanted to add that I don't buy Annabelle's holiday dresses, my parents do. They are the ones buying them at Costco, but if I were to have to buy them I'd probably hit Costco. Their return policy rocks.

I just had to come back and say that this has worked out so well. I'm just as pleased as can be. The customer service is outstanding! They shipped the dresses out immediately, and they came beautifully packaged, lovingly wrapped in fresh tissue and taped closed and placed inside a beautiful gift bag. The box included two lollipops for the girls, and a return shipping bag with a large hot-pink note stapled to it that says "Don't Lose Me!" Perfect for a scatterbrained multi-tasker like myself. :

The girls wore them 4 times, always at parties where food was served (one even had a chocolate fountain!), and we had no mishaps. The dresses are still like new. You can see a pic of my girls wearing their rented dresses. Now that we're done with the dresses, I'll just slip them into the pre-addressed mailer and drop in the U.S. Post Office. I wish all my clothing acquisitions could be handled so simply!

How cool! I'm going to pass this site onto my friend, who was planning on buying outfits for my kids for her wedding next year. I'd much rather have her rent them, and save some money.

The funny thing about these dresses was that everyone asked me if I made them. Ha! I wish! I guess they thought that because the dresses are matching. It's almost impossible to find matching dresses for my girls at a retail store unless I happen to be there right when they are restocking the clothes.

Thats a neat idea, although I find their rental prics to be a bit much, it would seem to me that you could find these dresses at a consignment shop for around the same price or less.

The pictures of your girls is adorable, but I honestly think the price is way too high. If you purchase two $25 dresses, wore them, washed them, then you could still sell them on the Trading Post or in a consignment store and recoup some of the money. And definitely, with some perseverance, you can find some really cute holiday dresses for great prices around town.

I think renting is a fantastic idea for adult's party clothing though, since those items are much more expensive to purchase.
