Let's list all our pet peeves. I'll start by listing a few of mine:

- People who stand to the left on the escalator, thereby blocking all the people behind (including me) who would like to walk
- People walking too slowly in front of me on the sidewalk.
- People who cut their pasta
- Clutter
- When my DH stacks the dishwasher (he is hopeless at this task. You would never know that he was an engineer)

-People who aren't polite to waiters/waitresses
-Dh's inability do commit to putting his dirty clothes IN the laundry basket- he places them ever so neatly next to it:
-people making fun of the way I say vitamin, tomato and zebra (I'm English ok...we sound funny)

Snarky threads! : Sorry couldn't resist!

People who get pets and then don't take care of them.

When dh walks past two bags of garbage and doesn't take them out.

When I miss an appointment, because I wrote it down on the calender wrong. :

When people talk down to me because I'm a woman. Only happens once though!

My big one would have to be when people don't realize that there is a world beyond the end of their nose.

People who don't take care of themselves.

And Litter.

People who insist on smoking in my air.

The way my city insists on replacing as many native trees as possible with parking lots and then planting non-native decorative plants and trees very sparsely. I live in a desert region. Non-native plants do not do well and I am sick of asphalt!

My state going on and on about "drought". Again we live in a desert area.

So many people crowded into one place! I long to live in the country again.

My teens telling me how much better behaved they were than the little ones.: Then proceeding to tell me where and how I could do better:

Not being able to find parking. Driving around for a spot just sets me on edge! I don't know why-- normally you can find a spot if you are patient, right? But it just offends my psyche somehow. I discovered this pet peeve when I moved to southern CA, of course When I lived where there were safe bike lanes I never seemed to have this problem finding a bike rack...

  • Overheating indoors in winter, and freezing AC in summer.
  • Things being put places in the house, temporarily (shoes in middle of floor, dishes in the sink, coats on the couch).
  • People being in a hurry and expecting others to be, too.
  • People thinking it's a compliment to pretend I look younger than I do and am.

My biggest pet peeve is when people have something they want to tell me but instead of coming out and saying it they beat around the bush and try to badger me into asking them about it. I NEVER give in when they do this. I will NOT humor a person who does that. If you want to tell me what you did last night, just come right out and tell me. Don't try and make it seem all mysterious so I have to ask. Because I won't! Gaaa!

My biggest pet peeve (and soapbox) is unrestrained children in cars.

-People who complain about stuff and do nothing to fix it (AHEM DH).
-All the clutter in my house.
-People who think only in black in white, life is a GRAY area folks. Your way is not the only way.
-My ds having to go to the bathroom everytime I ask him to do something. I swear I could ask the kid to come eat a bottomless bowl of ice cream and he'd have to go to the bathroom first. It's so weird.

I totally agree with you on this, and I never give in either. It drives me bonkers and I see it as just a way for people to get attention!

- people who don't educate themselves about important things and just follow what someone tells them to do
- when my ds refuses to nap and then is a grouch the rest of the day (usually on the worst possible days too, like today when I feel like crap and have a headache)
- people who try to tell me how to parent my child and thinking they actually get a vote in it to start with
- my dh not wanting another child when i do! LOL
- people who say they are coming to playgroups and then don't show up (w/o calling first)

I think I could go on forever. I am easily annoyed!

People who smoke right next to the signs that say "please don't smoke near this entrance."

People who aggressively tailgate. I go the speed limit, get over it.

Noise. Right now I can hear the kids playing, DH watching TV, and dogs barking outside. All that noise is driving me crazy.

Actually, that last one could be narrowed down to TV noise.

I hate when people leave their TV on when I am visiting. It makes me crazy, especially when it continues to be on during dinnertime.

People (must not mention names must not mention names must not mention names...okay, my MIL) who insist on talking about the most foul things possible as soon as I sit down to eat. Warning, this is gross...the last such incident was last week. I had just made eggs overeasy for myself. They were perfect. It had taken a long time because I had some cleaning up to do before I could make them. Did I mention how perfect they were? My MIL walked out of her bedroom as I was chewing on my first bite, and she had her bathroom trashcan in her hand. She shoved it at me and said, "Did you SEE this trashcan? What is IN there? It's moldy and covered with fungus! And it looks like it's actually rotting!" I thought I was going to vomit. She is always doing things like this. BUT ONLY WHEN WE EAT!

That's me! Too many people have walked past us and knocked my kids over. Little fingers on escalator stairs is a scary thing, and my kids are just too important (and no - I can't carry all four at once!). So, if you get behind me on the escalator - tough - you're going to just have to be annoyed!

-speeders, especially people who speed through residential areas
-bad drivers - reckless drivers
-drivers who don't give bikers room (are we seeing a pattern here? )

People who can't or won't park properly and don't CARE (I can't get upset at the ones that at least TRY to leave room for the rest of us)

People that leave trash all over tables where others eat food

When someone treats me like I'm useless because I don't work and don't want to, because I LIKE being home with my child

Two-faced people who act like my friend when they have nobody else but turn around and don't know me when they make other "friends"

DH leaving cabinets, toilet seat, doors, drawers, and whatever open

When someone plans on leaving their deployed husband by way of ambush after they get back

DH telling me that he is on-board 100% with the way I parent and then telling me that I need to do some things a mainstream way just because I say I'm tired

I have others but those are my main ones

Okay, I'm back...that didn't take long.

People who feel the need to make rude comments about other peoples' family size, whether it be, "You're only having one? Don't you think s/he'll be lonely/spoiled?" or "Just how many of those things do you plan on birthing?"

People who call at ridiculous hours. I tell people they can call my phone whenever they want, because I put it on silent when I go to bed anyway. DH doesn't have the same rule, and his friends call him any time from midnight to FOUR O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING.

Netspeak. Zomg! u r so pwn3d!

People who put pedal to the metal to cut in front of me, and then poke along at 21 miles/hr.

People who deviate from the traffic pattern that I (and only I) believe are the up and down aisles at the grocery store.

People who think that if they ram their grocery cart into my butt at the checkout line, somehow the checker will get me out faster.

That my MIL, who generally has exceptional manners, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS chews celery with her mouth open and crunches it an EXTRA long time.

Tailgating

People who speed up to block you when you put your blinker on to indicate that you would like to change lanes

People who hit children, especially in public where my children might have to be exposed to the violence

People who say that the U.S. "is not ready" for a female/person of color President

Anyone driving in any unsafe way. If somebody is just SO busy and SO important and SO tightly wound that they MUST speed/tailgate/weave/cut people off/honk at "slow" drivers/whatever -- FINE. They are welcome to endanger themselves all they want by driving fast and stupid on empty race tracks, but they are NOT welcome to endanger every other person on the road.

People who jabber away on the cell phones in public space, paying no attention to what is going on around them, so that they end up blocking grocery store aisles, parking in two spaces, cutting in front of others in line and not moving no matter how many times you say EXCUSE ME.
