We usually either go to a party or have one. But this year I'll be watching in my pink polar bear polar fleece jammies. Morning/evening sickness has killed the party this year.:

I simply cannot wait for the red carpet though. I love it!

So, are you doing the party thing or doing the jammie thing?

I've never heard of everyday people (not celebs or affiliated with them) having/going to an Oscar party.

Um, when is it on?

I don't mean a she-she-poo-poo party.
Just a bunch of friends some wine, a fancy dessert or 2 and a nice dinner.
Usually DD is the only one that dresses up. She likes her pink feather boa and dangly earrings, play high heels that her friend gave her.
Then you watch the red carpet and have a contest over who gets the most correct guesses. (You print off the list of categories and each person makes their picks-then you switch with another person and they score your list.)
Whoever wins gets a bottle of wine or some other prize.
Just a lot of fun.

The countdown to the red carpet is on now. But the LIVE from the vcarpet starts at 6:00 EST.
The bawbaw WaWa Special starts at 7:00 EST. (Though I usually only flip back and forth during commercials--CAN'T miss the carpet!)

Actual Awards starts at 8:30 EST.

Well, we're having smashing dinner, but that's b/c I've been lazy these last nights and we've had "quickie" dinners.

and perhaps homemade brownies.

but, more than likely won't watch it.

I can't deal with the suspense.

Bon Appetit did a while Oscar party menu last month. Apparently it's gotten pretty popular.

At the risk of sounding condescending, I could care less about the Oscars and we rent a movie or watch some tivoed movies instead. I dunno, I'm just not into watching a whole bunch of celebrities honor themselves and each other and talk about how awesome they are. Again, I know, I sound totally judgmental and like a big party pooper, but there you go.

Well... I'm more into the kids' choice awards. I'll be watchin' that with Mr. Timberlake... not that I have a thing for him or anything.

I go to a friend's Oscar party every year!! And we are "regular people".

It is a fun night. There is always a theme. One year was bad prom/bridesmaid dresses. That was hilarious! Last year was bad sweaters. Did you know they actually sell bad sweaters on the internet? Some were really something else.

This year's theme is black and bling. All black head to toe or no admittance. I can't wait to see what everyone comes in.

It is a potluck. The hostess decorates; we all get press passes (last year mine said "Kirsten Ledger"; I am hoping to be Mrs. Depp this year... ) It is a lot of fun.

We also each put $5 in the pot and the person who has the ballot with the most winners right wins the pot. And there is a prize for best costume. Photo boards of past years are on display. Women only - except for the hostess' dh who bartends.

I can't wait!!!!!! Oh, and I believe it starts (on tv) at 4:00 PST.

My very dear friend would host an Oscar party every year. It was a black tie thingy with red carpet and all. I loved going because it gave me an excuse to get all gussied up. She recently moved to China so I will be home in my pj's this year! I can't wait as I am really pulling for J-Hud to win for supporting actress.

Sigh. In my jammies too. Dh is watching basketball, so I can't even pretend he's my gay confidante like when we watch ANTM.

How timely.

We were just outside with the boys and my male neighbor walked up and complained that he has been so busy all day getting food ready for his wife's Oscar party. I had never heard of an Oscar party. Sounds like fun to me, but I'll be doing the jammie thing!

Well, I have to watch Family Guy and then call my boyfriend afterwards to talk about how horribly inappropriate and hilarious that show is. But I'm sure I will succumb to watching some of the Oscars. If only to catch a glimpse of Leo

My Oscar party menu will consist of spicy sausage pizza (homemade) and tapioca pudding for dessert.

I will be in my jammies.

I'm looking forward to the kids being asleep and since hubby is out of town I plan on getting my comfy pj's on and snuggling in bed with some of my sugar free pie and watching the whole thing. I don't know why but I just love the Oscar's and watch them every year, but I've never been to a party - that would be awesome!

Well, so much for watching them live.
We Tivo'd the red carpet because we watched Babble.
And now we are Tivo'ing the awards b/c DD is watching her show. (Big Comfy Couch) Which may in fact be one of the hardest shoes for adults to endure. Especially if you're like me and are creeped out by clowns.
SIGH, maybe I'll get to watch them throughout the week b/c my bedtime lately has been about 9:30 pm.

I didn't realize that was tonight
I don't really get into the whole award show thing. I just don't see the appeal. Maybe I'm nuts, though
