Some do it for exercise...some do it to spice up the bedroom.

And is anyone else having mental images of Kevin James pole dancing on King of Queens?

I'd take a class in a heartbeat if it wasn't so expensive.

Not from that woman. I saw her on Oprah yesterday, and her "skills" did not impress me. The pumpkin shirt woman that did the little dance onstage for her husband...well, even my DH said, "She had to take a CLASS to learn that?!"

Well I'm in Iowa, have 7 years of experience in the industry, and give private instruction.... Seriously. :

If I wasn't so klutzy that I know I'd end up eating the pole more than dancing around it or tripping over my panties and doing a face plant rather than doing anything seductive (only magnified by the difficulty and pain of doing anything in heels) then I'd consider it.

I've always wanted to take trapeze lessons but haven't for the same reasons. Though to be honest, bellydancing seems more seductive to me, with less pain (I've known professional pole dancers and they've all had more tolerance for the inevitable pain and bruising than I do at present), and no need for heels.

I would do it, but not in a class setting, I would be too embarrassed to even learn/practice in front of others. I heard that pole dancing is a really good workout and well my post-baby body really needs some toning! My DH would of course love it, but I wouldn't do it just for him, I think it would be kind of a fun thing to, "know" how to do, b/c you take one look at me and I'm totally not the type.

I would take the classes if it were free. But no way would I do it for DH. It would be just for me, for excercise. I can't imagine turning it sexual. I don't put on sexual displays for DH's pleasure. He can take me or leave me, as me, as I am. It's just not my thing to do that kind of stuff. The dressing up, all that stuff feels yucky to me. I have issues or something. I don't think there is anything wrong with people doing things for their partner but I can't find it in myself to even begin to go there. But I would totally do the pole thing for fun and exercise. It actually looks really fun and challenging.

We drove by a new studio here in Wichita today and I was teasing dh that I should try that.

He would enjoy it, but I am not sure there is a pole in the world strong enough to hold me. The place did look nice though.

The poles can withstand thousands of pounds of momentum being swung around them, there's no way that any of you would break a stripper pole.

BTW, it IS amazing exercise. I work HARD on stage - I'm all sweaty and out of breath and pretty much disgusting after a 3 song set. I know, sexy, isn't it. : And then I complain about not making money....

But seriously, I do recommend pole-dancing for exercise, AND pole and dancing instruction for sensual expansion. If you're tempted, I say GO FOR IT!!

I've taken the intro class at the one not too far from here, but I have yet to go back and redeem the 6 classes I won at a LLL silent auction. It was just floor work for the intro, but it was DEFINITELY a workout!
