especially when applying nail polish. I did both my children tonight. DS did not want to be left out, he was so excited about his pretty nails.

Yes. I figured, he's a boy, he should have sparkly blue, its only appropriate. I mean, I wouldn't want to break the gender rules or anything.

I don't know. My boys both think red and gold is for boys' toes! Then my neighbor brought over purple and silver polish and called it "rock star "colors. Now they love that!

My son doesn't want to come across as preferring one gender over the other so he has split the difference by having purple polish on his toenails this week.

My poor son loved having his nails painted until he was traumatised by some unenlightened jerks. Why can't he hang out with YOUR kids.

Am I depriving DD by not owning nail polish? I am starting to think she is going to want therapy over this some day.

I can't wait to paint my DD's toe nails. : I need to do mine tomorrow, so maybe she'll be interested and give me my opportunity.

What about fake tattoos? I put one on my foot (I got a package of those soak on ones from the dollar store to test out the spot for my new real tat) and she was ALL OVER that. She gets stamps on her feet and gymboree, so I almost put a tattoo on her. I bet she would have loved it. :

Frankenstein never scared me. Marsupials do. Because they're FAST.

My DS (almost 4) would prefer pink sparkley nail polish, but DH would flip out about it... DD (2.5) would want to paint her own nails, which would more than likely involve also painting as much of the bathroom as she could with the polish in the bottle, so we don't do a lot of nail polish in this house...

Tattoos, though, are another story altogether... Anytime somebody gets a hold of a marker, preferably a bright Sharpie, we end up with a pair of heavily inked kids. DH is to blame for that one-- DS and DD love climbing all over him and pointing out his tattoos...

I should add that I am NOT a nail polish wearing person. I bite my nails actually. I have nail polish, it probably hadn't been opened in 12 years, most of it was dried out actually. My mom does her nails and has done DD's occaisionally in the past. So when we were inthe bath and I said to DD 'When you get out why don't we paint your nails?' she looked at me like I had just turned into an alien from mars and said 'WHAT DID YOU SAY?' I knew she'd like it and I just figured why not?

My dh loves nail polish but since he works with his hands in sharp places he figured it would just chip, so why bother.
