Don't care for hooters or the like.

Incidentally...LOOK at a billboard they had here in Tampa when they opened up their casino.

It might take you a minute, but there's a double meaning here.

It was controversial.

Which is why I want to open a restaurant called "The Banana Hammock" and reverse the roles. Let's blatantly objectify men and their bits. Let's see how fast that would last.

However, think of how fun it would be to interview candidates...he he he

I have never been to a Hooters or nursed at one, but I think I remember many mamas saying that they nursed while eating there with no issue.

Happy to help.

I don't really buy that whole "women made to serve" thing, of course. I do think that the animation and robotic stuff in the commercial was kind of neat though.

Interesting, I've heard that (at least the one by ASU) gives phenominal health benefits and tuition reimbursement for some line of study or another.

But alas, that reminds me that no matter how their employees are treated "on paper" that the whole concept is disgusting. :

I'll never forget the day I realized they promote as a FAMILY restaraunt. Walking around downtown and this family walks by and this boy couldn't have been more than 12 was wearing a hooters shirt and a birthday hat. I think he would have imploded from embarrasment and vanished from the earth if given the chance.

D loves eating there. And their food is really good IMO. : I do think I have been a good influence on her though. When we go there she always points at the waitresses and says Boo-boo EAT food! One waitress had no clue what DD was talking about and when I said that DD was pointing out that the waitresses breasts were a wonderful source of milk and food in the eyes of DD (she no longer nurses but she's very into the idea of babies eating boob). The waitress blushed and thanks.

The kids want to go. Dd's best friend's brother had his 15th bday dinner there. I suspect there'd be little for me to eat there. Perhaps some fries? lol

I love Hooters threads on MDC. My favorite line of all time was one poster (in a long-ago thread on the subject) who said that she's never eat in a place where the servers wore flesh-toned nylons with orange short-shorts and white socks and sneakers.

I'm waiting for the moms to chime in who defend Hooters because the waitresses have been really nice to their kids and that they were consciencious about another poster's child's food allergies.

Then more people will talk about sexism, exploitation, and others will say that it's about choice. Good times.

I haven't seen this commercial, but that sounds to me like a direct reference to the movie Stepford Wives. That exact scene is the pivot point where the main character discovers just how the town of Stepford is evil and how demented these guys are, killing their wives and replacing them with robots instead. (Err... if you've never seen the movie, then I apologize for the spoiler). Although if they're making it out to be a good thing, not a creepy horror movie scene, then maybe it's just freakily the same concept without intending to reference the film.

Surely I can't be the only one here who finds that absolutely hilarious and not the least bit offensive?

They have one in downtown Toronto. I've never been to a Hooters, they are plenty of places with very similar food around here. If I took my ds there, he'd think he was at a buffet

I've never been to Hooters, but we used to have a similar family-owned place in town called Bazookas . . . they had good food and the servers were exceptionally friendly.

DP recently took our 19 month old into a store with some naked mannequins to watch him get excited about the boobies . . . if there was a Hooters around, we'd probably take him there for the pure humor of it all. (And I'd eat the mini burgers, too : . . . I never really grew big enough to wear much more than a training bra)!

That billboard is funny, IMO. But then I've got no issues with some liquoring and pokering.
