My parents are going to buy ds new train tracks for his train table for xmas. I am supposed to be sending mom links to several sets, so she can pick whichever one she wants to get for him. I want a train set that's not MIC, but I want a nice one, not one that's just a freaking circle of track. Yes, I'm picky.

Price isn't really an object here. I have googled and googled and searched and searched, and can't find anything that's not MIC that is bigger than just a figure 8 or a circle set. I thought Brio was safe, but come to find out, Brio is MIC.

Ugh. Stupid lead.

Sorry, hit the button too fast. The wooden train site is awesome and they have beautiful trains. I would skip buying a train table (if your kiddo loves trains they will soon outgrow the table and move to the floor.) I would just buy lots of tracks and trains. There is another site I am thinking of too, I'll go hunt. We have been BIG into trains.

If price isn't an issue, there is this one from Maple Landmark made in the US.

If you want a quality one that's a bit easier on the pocket book, there is this one made in Germany.

Oompa.com also has a few, but they seem to sell out rather quickly.

Good luck!

Isn't that just a clip to stabilize the connections?

Hmm, I don't know how you find where stuff is made on websites. According to google, Maxim enterprises makes some wonderful train track sets. But I can't find where they are manufactured. I think I found their phone number though =D (888) 266-2946

Oh that German one looks perfect. The first one doesn't look like it would take the trains we already have.

Thanks y'all, keep the links coming!! This whole MIC disaster is giving me a headache. :

I don't know if they have train stuff, but you and the other posters may be interested in this link:

It's part of liveandlearn.com which is a great place to buy kids toys. They have a regular site, too, that stuff that might be made in China...

Just to chime in, a lot of Haba's smaller toys are also now being outsourced to china. The bigger things, like the walkers, are still made in Germany, though. Just to warn you...fwiw...

I think Plan Toys makes both roads and train tracks, or one that you can use for both...It's in the PlanCity line. Plan Toys are made in Thailand from plantation rubberwood, sustainably grown and harvested, pay their workers well, etc., etc.

Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!! Oh that is so wrong and makes me really sad:-(. I can't believe Brio is made in China now. That's awful. I feel betrayed:=(

Mom to DD1 (11/1999),  DD2 (07/2003), and DS (11/2012), all born at home and cloth diapered.

How about this place - I bought my DD some from him when I was at Circle Craft last week. He makes them in his shop in BC.

As far as I have researched they are made in thailand out of rubberwood which is renewable and they use fair trade practices
