OMG, how absolutely terrifying for you, your husband, and your DD.

sacredmama 04-29-2008 12:33 AM

That's crazy!! That happened to my sunroof, but I wasn't in the car. My friend had actually borrowed it and it happened while he was driving down I-25!! Luckily noone was hurt.

Glad you are all okay!!

ColoradoMama 04-29-2008 12:37 AM

Yea, I am so glad that everyone else was home with me. The broken glass would have landed all over my four year old.

matey 04-29-2008 12:39 AM

That is really scary, I am glad everyone is ok! Windows are expecsive though.

MillingNome 04-29-2008 12:42 AM

not cool

Mama_Michelle 04-29-2008 12:42 AM

I am glad everyone is OK.

Yea, I know.

~Boudicca~ 04-29-2008 12:45 AM

Holy cow! That is scary. I'm glad no one was hurt.

rabrog 04-29-2008 02:23 AM

We had the exact same thing happen to our minivan in November. The window on the sliding door on the driver's side just shattered. No idea how it happened as it was parked and unoccupied at the time.

Yea. Me, too. The whole thing just freaks me out!

superstella 04-29-2008 10:03 AM

Oh wow, that would totally freak me out as well. So glad everyone is okay.

Leilamus 04-29-2008 10:13 AM

I'm glad everyone is ok! That is sooo scary. How is your DD today? That must have really upset her.

OwensMa 04-29-2008 10:32 AM

Very scary! Thank goodness no one was hurt.

KatherineNaomi 04-29-2008 11:04 AM

Did you report it to the police?

accountclosed3 04-29-2008 11:08 AM

thanks goodness everyone is safe!

there are lots of incidents in this area of teens throwing stuff off of bridges onto passing cars, or using sling shots and related. in most instances, people have been injured, and in one instance, a woman was even killed! it was so tragic! it's a big problem around here, but it's hard to catch the people who do it.

so sad! i'm so glad that everyone is safe!

Ruthla 04-29-2008 11:47 AM

I'm so glad nobody was physically hurt!

gsd1amommy 04-29-2008 12:05 PM

I'm sure you know this but if you find the projectile that broke the window while you are cleaning up the glass, please save it for the police. I'm so sorry your little one and husband had to go through that.

Sharlla 04-29-2008 12:11 PM

I went to the junk yard, and bought a window for my car for $30, they are easy to replace as well.

tayndrewsmama 04-29-2008 01:00 PM

Wow, that's freaky. FWIW, it's the labor charge on the windows that open that really cost you. If that window is a stationary one it really shouldn't cost that much, especially if you get a salvage one.

AEZMama 04-29-2008 01:14 PM

Did you call the police? They can make a record of the incident and if there are other incidents they might be able to find the person responsible (recoup damages, etc).

Glad everyone is relatively ok (aside from being shaken up).

Unfortunately, it's not stationary. Luckily though, we talked to the body shop today, and it isn't going to be all that expensive! Yea! They can't fix it until tomorrow which means we have to rent a van for an extra day which sucks, but all in all it could have been worse.

I still can't get the hard of hearing guy to answer his door to find out if his broken window is related to ours. I'm going to put a note on his door today.

My daughter is okay today. After the shock wore off, I think she was just psyched to be a part of something so "exciting." She's a pretty resilient kid. The bad thing is that we had that happen, and then dh and I watched Hotel Rwanda last night. All I wanted to do last night was cry and hug my children.

tayndrewsmama 04-29-2008 03:24 PM

I am glad to hear it won't be so much. Hopefully you can get some more ideas on what the heck is going on from that guy.

If you haven't already call the police, you probably don't want to wait much longer. Definitely do it before you have it fixed. They usually want pictures to go with their report and sometimes they are picky about taking the photos themselves.
