My kids all slept with us until they were at least 3 1/2- 4 and we've always had dogs. My parents have had dogs, my brothers have had dogs. At night, the dogs sleep in their kennels. So naturally, when visiting a pregnant friend, my daughter who was 2 at the time, pointed to the crib in the newly decorated nursery and said "Kennel!"

This did not help the increasingly contentious relationship I had/have with my friend regarding cosleeping. But, hey the similarity is pretty striking.

This happened with my nephew, when he was about 3 or 4 he would keep on getting my sister's pads out and he honestly thought they were ice cream sandwiches and want her to open them so he could eat them.
