What are the rules WRT selling/giving something away on Craigslist?

Is it first come basis? Whoever can pick up said item first? Eenie meenie miney moe?

I posted something yesterday and have had 10 people email me about it, emailed the 1st person right away last night with no reply just I give her a bit longer then go to the 2nd person? Or pick and choose from my list? Give it to the person I deem most worthy?

Thanks in advance!!

Renae wife to J :, Mama to 4.5y/o J-bird and 2y/o A : and E coming in late Dec/Early Jan. My husband had a living donor kidney transplant! :

I just look through the emails, read them all, then pick the one I want to have it. I don't think there is really an etiquette to it.

Just, please, do not agree to sell to someone, set up a time to meet, then tell them 30 minutes before that the items was sold to someone else and is gone. I had a person do that to me yesterday. She had my phone number and everything. why could she not have called me and said, "hey, I have another person who is interested, willing to pay full price and wants to pick up right now. I agreed to sell to you, so if you can match it, it's yours, otherwise he gets it"

Also, make sure the buyer pays CASH, nothing but CASH. No checks! Way too many scammers out there.

Don't give the buyers too much time. 24 hours or less, then move on to the next one. The serious ones will be responsive.

Along those lines, don't say you are interested, set up a time to look at said item, then not show up. Then a couple of days later email saying you found a better deal on a similar item.

Ahhh tea the essence of life.
