Also, could everyone please learn to use apostrophe's properly?

Kidding!
See, I just want to BAN the apostrophe altogether! I can't tell you how often I've seen plurals apostrophed: "Can you brilliant mama's tell me ....?" or "the store only sells banana's and peppers that are organic..." ARGHHH!

Oh and it's Web SITE. SITE as in LOCATION, not SIGHT as in something to SEE. SITE. SITE. SITE.

Sorry, rant over. The prescriptivist in me does need to vent every once in a while.

to/too/two are different words and are not interchangeable.

Speaking of paragraph
marks: I have seen some
very odd uses of line
breaks on another board
I post on, and typing like
this makes it just as hard
to read a post.

Don't you know the apostrophe means "LOOK OUT! There's an S coming up!"?

You are using a wheelbarrow, not a wheelbarrel.

And it's "let alone" not "yet alone" as in "I would never say that, let alone type it online".

Can it be that no one has mentioned the classic "stratergery?" My dh loves that one. We could have a whole thread devoted to W's creative language skills. I'm gonna miss that guy.

It's "ohnoez!!!!1!" and yes, the one is included in the spelling, dammit. But you're all postpartum-y, so I'll forgive you, BR.

The thing that bothers me is chester drawers. It's Chest. Of. Drawers. I'll say it once more, slower. Chest...of...drawers. Chester drawers are on Chester's ass.

This reminds me of something:

The two two train comes at two to two.

The two two two train comes at two to two, too.

I'd try to read that as poetry.

This was one of the rare threads where I literally laughed out loud. For some reason, the idea of "cancer of lying down" made me laugh in real life.

Pet peeves in written language:
ect. instead of etc. I always think of ectoplasm. It's etc; short for etcetera, meaning "and so on"

Ruggedize and all its associated false or fad -izes.

Literally used in place of figuratively. Literally means you really, actually, in real life, felt that way or did that. Literally peed your pants means your underpants are now wet. Figuratively means you felt like you might pee your pants but said pants are still dry.

Happy with my DH, 2 kids, dog, fish, and frogs

Also, who and whom are not the same word.

Likewise, you cannot simple replace the word "I" with "myself" in all instances - it does not make you seem intellectual or educated, but in fact makes you seem quite the opposite.

I like other fonts but it's too much of a pain in the rear to change them.

Colors? Only for emphasis once in a while to separate stuff. I went through a green and purple stage for a while, but it was too much trouble to keep changing it for every single post.

I don't mind it when other people use them though. I think they're too inconvenient to use, but I like being able to spot all of someone's posts easily if I'm scanning a page quickly.

Posted too fast last night while DH was waiting for me to watch Mad Men... and had a typo in my post. Uh... I meant wet, not we. OTOH, I did know it was wrong!

Another one I've only ever seen from 2 ex-coworkers but is really annoying... except in place of accept. "Please except my apologies."

DH's coworkers "Let's flush out the idea and see if we like it." It's "flesh it out" guys, as if you're putting meat on the bones of the idea you have now. Flushing it means getting rid of the idea by,
