do you flush?
My way of thinking is this...I get up between 3-5 times a night. So that adds 90-150 additional flushes per month and I think that's just unnecessary.

If its brown, flush it down.
We do this all the time to save water (drought), not just at night.

We practice "If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down". Chris doesn't mind menstrual blood, so that should probably be "If it's red and/or yellow, let it mellow".
For the "grossness" we squirt Dr. Bs soap in the toilet if necessary and always flush before leaving the house on a hot day or going away for a day or two.
ETA: It occurs to me how ridiculous that is consider the amount of time I've spent housesitting for an aunt who only has an outhouse which I think she hasn't cleaned in all the years I've known her, but yeah ... "grubby outhouse? No problem! But don't you dare skip flushing if you ever get plumbing."
