I've been having occasional trouble with this in the front and side of one thigh for a while, and have tried warmth and massaging it, myself, to little avail.  There's usually some tenderness or even mild numbness, at times when I don't have the sharp shooting pains.  The sudden pains, in particular, are getting worse.  Any ideas on remedies or cause?

I had something similar the other day.  Nothing I did helped, but it just went away after a bit.

The only worrisome thing I can of is a blood clot.

If you get the same thing I do, it is sciatica and it is no fun! Google "sciatica during pregnancy" and you'll get a lot of information. Honestly the only thing that even slightly works for me is to keep moving until I figure out the best position to get it to ease up. Sometimes that is really hard if not impossible though. The other day I was in the middle of the grocery store and it would hit me everytime I took a step with my left leg. I just stood in the aisle and cautiously tested it for a few minutes till it was "safe". Other times, it seems like the baby's movements are causing it and it is a little harder to stop then...and much more unpredictable! I hope you feel better, it really hurts. hug2.gif

My sciatica doesn't feel like that, but it's a good point and entirely possible!

I have read that you should be using ice, not heat for sciatica. I found that helps me quite a bit. Here are some more tips from my chiropractor.

I would also say that if it is the sciatica to work on relaxing and massaging you back muscles--and the areas around your hips, front and back.  This is what helped me with the shooting pains down my leg.   I use to have a lot of pain on and off for years.  I actually went to physical therapy for a while too, which helped.  Now I have been free of the shooting pains for many years, but I still get a little tightness periodically in my back and hip areas.

I have it on my left inner thigh closer to my knee and its exactly as you described sharp, sudden pain and I am also worried its a blood clot but the doc brushed me off at my 6 week appointment and said no way!
