Not sure if im being realistic about this - just know my body and brain are so annoyed by loud noises, constant chit chat, loud singing and dancing (my daughter and my mom), etc while im nursing. Also having trouble with my daughter wanting to be right in the baby's face while he's trying to latch and nurse. I appreciate my parents helping out but it's getting annoying having the chaos around all the time. I keep hinting they could take her somewhere but so far no go.
As for the noise and such, first I would tell your mom "take dd on a walk/to the park/for ice cream". I'm sure if you tell her what you need, she'll do it, but I do think it is a tad unrealistic to expect her just to know. Also, perhaps there is a more quiet/private space in your home you can retreat to when having dd out of the house isn't possible. I totally understand though- I am home with five kid's all day every day and I don't think the word quiet is in their vocabulary. Add to that my husband whose normal volume is equal to that of a megaphone and I am out of patience with the constant cacophony! My dd was walking around last night just making noise- she wasn't talking to anyone, wasn't singing, was literally just making noise. For my own sanity, I have to be short and sharp with them when it comes to noise. And don't even get me started on the tv- does the whole neighborhood have to hear the broadcast? Maybe they wouldn't need it up so loud if everyone could just zip their lips.
5 kids??!!!! What was I complaining about ? :) - Glad to hear Im not the only one bothered and feeling invaded - i feel awful that im 'excluding" my daughter and want her to feel important- but it does irk me!!!
My oldest is always asking to turn up the volume, I try to explain that if she would just sit still, pay attention and stop talking she would be able to hear! Drives me crazy!
