I am bleeding a little bit. The blood was a watery red if that makes any sense. Like not bright red. But not old brown blood either. I've been cramping for several days now, which I blithely wrote off as a normal early pg thing. I will be 5 weeks tomorrow.

I will update in the morning.

In the meantime, any words of wisdom?

Hang in there!

I have been bleeding today too. All day. No clots, cramps, but blood on the tissue when I wipe. I've been resting all day since it started. I'm worried to, but holding onto hope.  I am right there with ya.  Big hugs! hug.gif

I do want to say that bleeding can be very normal in pregnancy. It can be caused by several reasons, and sometimes you don't know why you bled. Women sometimes even bleed their whole pregnancy. My MW bled the entire first half of her pregnancy. So you just never know. Here's to hope for both of us!

Thank you so much for your response, Jamie. It is so, so comforting to know that you are going through this too. hug2.gif

It's strange -- I have read literally hundreds of "I'm spotting" and "I'm out" posts, plus posts in the Pregnancy and Birth Loss board, plus many posts about spotting in viable, healthy pgs, but this still hit me like a ton of bricks when I saw the blood. I am in a fugue state.

I gotta snap out of this by tomorrow!! My poor kiddos!

Will update soon.

Ms B Sprout, For the first few weeks now I have felt like I had my period; the cramping was there 24 hours a day. Rest lots and try to keep your spirits up. So many people spot during pregnancy... I can understand how scary it would be though. *hugs*

That is great news! I was wondering how  you were doing.

Unfortunately I am still having bright red blood when I wipe. And there was obvious tissue on the TP when I wiped this morn.  It's strange though, because I'm still holding out hope. Maybe a vanishing twin, maybe just bleeding. As a doula, dealing with pregnant women that bleed is common for me. So I'm not in a rush to assume the worst. I feel peaceful about it all either way.

I should've read this thread sooner.  I had a small amount of bright red blood this morning on the tp.  I tried calling my doctor, long story in the appointment thread, and eventually called my midwife who reassured me it could be nothing.  I wasn't freaked out until I couldn't talk to my doctor.  I know a miscarriage can't be stopped, I also know there could be other reasons for the spotting, it scared me just the same.  It seems to have stopped, there was only the one small amount this morning and then some very faint pink a couple times during the day, so hopefully it was nothing.  Tonight I feel the sickest I've been so far, which I know is also a good sign.  Can't believe what a rollercoaster parenting is from the moment you decide you want a baby!

So I'm still spotting a bit, again just small amounts, basically a little bit of pink on the tp, there isn't even enough to get on a liner, only when I wipe (sorry for the descriptive).  Can anyone tell me if this is normal, or at what point I have to worry?  I haven't had any pains, other than uterine stretching type, no cramps or period like pains. I still feel really sick, sore boobs, exhausted, the whole gamut.  I'm trying not to freak out, but this didn't happen with my first and there seems to be a lot of my close friends miscarrying right now.  The midwife said it's not a worry unless it's dark brown and heavier, so trying not to worry, but I'd feel a lot better if it would just go away entirely!  Rereading what I've written I know I'm probably getting worked up over nothing but just the same, I want it to go away.

hug2.gifSmurfy!!

I have a good friend who just miscarried, and I was on the phone with her last night and she was telling me about her research into miscarriage. She read that something like 50% of women experience at least some spotting in the first tri. That made me feel better. But still.

I now seem to remember this sort of pale spotting when I DTD in my last pg.

We DTD last night (sorry, way TMI) and this morning I am spotting bright red, more blood. I hope I just have a very blood-filled, tender cervix right now and that I am irritating it.

Smurfy, it's comforting to me that your midwife said dark brown and heavy is when to worry. Thanks for posting that. How are you this morning? smile.gif

I have miscarried. I continued to bleed yesterday. It's all been very strange though because it came and went and it was only on the TP. It has never gotten that heavy. There was one time of some tissue and tiny clots. But mostly it was just red on the TP.  And this morning there was a little bit and then there has been only a tinge. But the reason I say I am out is because I took a pregnancy test also this morning and it had one of those; have to squint and tilt lines. Going from a line to pretty much no line is a safe indicator I'm not pregnant anymore. My symptoms are rapidly disappearing as well. My only concern at this point is that I don't seem to be bleeding very much. I know I was only shy of 5 weeks, but this isn't even normal period bleeding. I haven't even had to put on a pad. You would think I would have a surplus. But I know everyone is different. So I'm just waiting it out at this point and moving on with life. I'm really fine. I'm bummed, but not devastated or anything.

I really do wish all of you the best, most wonderful peaceful, healthy pregnancy and birth!

I know miscarriages are very common, my midwife said it's like 1 in 3, but I also know spotting is as well.  This morning I am extremely sick!  I almost threw up or passed out in the shower, or both, this is the worst I've been yet, so I guess that's a good sign.  I have a lot of reasons for what could be causing the bleeding but of course my mind keeps wandering to the other.  For one I've been fighting off a yeast infection, the doctor did a swab the other day, so I guess that could've bumped the cervix a bit, plus instering the applicators with the creams could be doing it.  It hasn't increased at all and last night there was a very small amount of pink on the applicator.  Oh and the midwife did say that sex can do it as well, though with the yeast infection that hasn't been a problem for us.  I don't think you can of TMI on here, we're all here for the same purpose and it's not always pretty!

Ugh, just had some more blood, still bright red, still quite light, but it's really depressing me.  I just really want to know one way or the other.  I'm still feeling sick though.  I'm heading back to bed for a bit, if I can sleep.

Jamie, I thought once you got past the first few weeks pregnancy tests weren't that reliable, and also that how dark the line was varied greatly from test to test, so it didn't mean anything? Fingers crossed you are still in the game. I'm thinking of you...

I did not know this. But my mw told me to take the test with first morning urine and we would call it after that. Thanks for keeping up the hope though love.gif

@Smurfy- I hope it's nothing. Don't get depressed. Gotta hold out hope. hug2.gif

I miscarried, also.  Bright red blood with small amounts of tissue.  I did a blood test on Tues and then another on Thur and my numbers went down so it's a positive.

Good luck, ladies.  I hope your pregnancies are happy and healthy!

I had brown spotting for almost a week straight.  It was there everytime I wiped and I wore a panty liner (not that I really needed to).  But I'm in a different situation than all (probably all) of you.  I did IVF so I am pretty medicated, my lining was pumped up by the drugs so that the embroy would implant and I was also instructed to take ASA 81 a blood thinner.  As soon as I stopped the ASA I stopped spotting.

Angela sorry to hear that! hug2.gif

I've still got the same amount of spotting, which is good that at least it hasn't increased and is still really light.  I spent the day on the couch mostly.  I've been really super sick today, which is also good, as long as I'm sick I know my body is producing pregnancy hormones.  Though now I feel like I have the flu, though it's definitely pregnancy nausea, I've never wanted cheeseburgers over chicken soup with the flu.  Minor diarrhea, which I read is actually a pregnancy symptom for some, and body aches, which could be from laying on the couch all day.  Anyone else ever have either of these?  I just really want to know one way or the other for sure.  I talked to my midwife and a friend who had a late miscarriage before her last baby and they both reassured me that it doesn't sound like that's the case yet, there are still several other possibilities.  My mother lovingly called to tell me that first trimester bleeding is common with twins, which run in our family, really wanted to punch her through the phone!  I'm trying to stay positive but I now absolutely hate going to the bathroom.

Smurfy, I hope you have a much better day today! hug.gif

My totally not helpful response is that your symptoms certainly could be pg symptoms, or you could also have a touch of some virus or another. And spotting is a normal part of early pg for lots of women. I am now seeing that my spotting correlates to sex or overexertion. But I have read about others who just spot. shrug.gif

Here's hoping this calms down and the worries recede into memory, for both of us!!!

Thank you so much everyone for the support.  I did actually have a much better day today.  The bleeding seems to have subsided and I started taking Diclectin which is helping take the edge off the nausea.  I'm still going to take it easy for the rest of the weekend, thanks to a very helpful DH, but hopefully my worrying is over.

Mrs. B Sprout my guess is that yours is just related to sex, that's one of the first questions my midwife asked me.  After this little scare I think we'll be abstaining until the first trimester is over!  Hope you're doing well, fingers crossed for everyone!

I am also feeling better, no more spotting, and I have a much better outlook on things now. I actually went back to the Dec 2007 DDC and looked at some of my early posts about my second pg, and they were reassuring. thumb.gif

So, doing better for now!

grouphug.gif  for all of you.  I'm sorry about the two miscarriages already.  greensad.gif  My one 5 week miscarriage I could tell I was going to miscarry because my positive turned to so faint I could barely see it to a complete negative.  I had tested positive, then went to get it confirmed by the doc and it was negative there so they did a blood test and my hcg was a 5, which is the minimum for a pregnancy.  So I knew I was loosing the pg.  That night I had a very faint positive on First Response, but the next morning it was completely negative and I started bleeding later that day.  With my 10 1/2 week miscarriage, I still got a faint positive 2 weeks after I'd bled too much and ended up with a D&C.  But in my experience, a disappearing positive pg test can be a sign, although not always, depending on how far along.

*sigh*  I wish we could all have wonderful healthy pregnancies and there were never any miscarriages.  I've gone from being so excited at a positive, to being leery of how long I will get to be pregnant and almost afraid to get my hopes up.  I've heard of and known so many people that have lost babies at all different stages, even at delivery, that I've gone to understand there is never a truly safe period when everything will be fine, but I guess at some point I have to just come to terms with the uncertainty and make peace with myself and whatever the outcome may be and enjoy each and every day I get to grow this little sweetie.  I hope that we are all able to get there as our pregnancies continue all the way to a healthy baby in the end! praying.gif
