I went back and forth on it for a bit as it's for next freakin' winter but I love it  and was a good deal :)

I hit a good thrift store yesterday; the same one where I got all my Fuzzibunz (like, a full stash in new condition) for $2.50. It's funny, because I go there every few weeks, but when there is this certain woman there, she somehow loves me and shows me all the good stuff in the fill-a-bag, plus brings more in from out back (she goes looking for me in their huge back room of unpriced merchandise!) She's my angel, I think. Anyway, I got a Bumbo seat with a tray for $5. I know those are not everyone's favorites, but I think they are very useful at a certain stage. I also got the stuff in both pictures below for $2.50 total! Nice, quality brands: Jacadi Paris, Under the Nile Organic, and Zutano. Score!

my goodness roesemary!!! What thrift store do you go to? I have never seen natural brands like that at a thrift shop.

I would get a bumbo if I could get it for $5.00. I would like to cut a hole in it and use it for an infant potty. They don't recommend that but for $5 I would give it a shot and since bumbo hasn't made a real one yet I will need to do it on my own:).

I saw this too! I love it! I decided that white longies wouldn't do so well with our family though!

I debated on the white longies, but they are a good toddler yarn so sturdy.  I also plan on knitting at least 6-7 for her as well so these will be in a decent sized rotation :).

Speaking of, here is a top I just knit for her and I started the matching cardigan and footies last night....fx I get it done as her coming home outfit.

That is a pretty good idea about a bumbo toilet. Have you pitched that? Seriously!

The thrift store is just a local one (I believe in some sort of connection with the food pantry.) Anyhow, I've had great luck with children's things there over time, and it's true that the wealthier people here like to donate their gently used things for a good cause. Oddly, the store separates out the "better" things to sell for $1.50 each (still a steal) but their idea of "better" seems to be Carter's, The Children's Place, and more recognizable brands like that. The stuff is rarely as good as what's in the bin.

Saoirse, keep us posted on that ad!

Rosemary, sounds like a great thrift store!

I have been given almost everything I wanted for the baby, save the co-sleeper that I bought for the baby at a local consignment store. My sister is going to get the last item for me, a stroller. I still have enough in gift cards that I can buy the air purifier, too. It's been unexpected and awesome, people's generosity.

I still have a lot of small but not necessary things I'd like such as toys and such that I'll acquire little by little. Plan to knit some long pants and diaper covers. Most everything is covered except for washing all the clothes and bedding.

I sent them an e-mail at bumbo and received a reply back that was pretty vague. Something like we don't recommend cutting a hole in the bumbo but we are always working on new ideas. If I can find a cheap one I will give it a shot and maybe line the cut area with duck tape or something so urine doesn't get into the foam. we have never used a bumbo, dd did use it once at a friends house at about 4 months and peed in it the min. I put her in there so if we are ecing the only way to use the bumbo is with a hole. lol

We borrowed a bumbo briefly for ds but could not justify paying full price. We did joke it was good at getting him to poop - not that he needed the help!

My mom found mine at a yard sale for $2. Which is funny, because I, once upon a time (a summer or two ago), sold a Bumbo seat and the price sticker looked the same. lol.gif

I see that we are both sleep deprived ...and up most of the night by the time on our posts...slept al of maybe 2 hrs last night...dd has a fever and stuffy/runny nose...kept choking on it last night...can't sleep on a good night and this put my over the no sleep edge

gotta love being a parent...lol

afm: I always thought it was as for myself, but I was not far of lol

I am going to pick up a madela swing pump this am from a momswap for $40

I really only need it so that my kids and hubby can feed the baby...makes them feel so squishy and lovey :)

might even be good for getting one on one time with the kids while dad has some one on one time with the baby.

with my first he felt sooo helpless trying to comfort ds without a boob ;)

what a deal on the stroller!!!!

I love love love the feeling I get when I get a deal a real good deal on something I was planning on (or dreaming of) purchasing anyways.

good job!!!

I did pick up a bumbo the other day. I paid a little more than I wanted for it ($12) but it is the cheapest I have seen it. It is a lot shallower than I thought so now i have to figure out what container I am going to place under or in the hole to catch the pee... any ideas would be great.

actually, one of those deep dish pizza pans would probably be even better...haha, or a large cast iron skillet! That would be one heavy duty pottie! OR, an old enamel butcher tray. Might be a little easier to clean that than a skillet...

So, not really for baby but I used a gift card and got myself a new diaper bag today. It's not exactly what I wanted but seems like it will fit the bill when it comes to cloth diapering. I was disappointed in the few diaper bags I looked at when it came to number of pockets.. and no elasticized pockets?!

This one.

The one item I always knew I'd get for my baby is a sheepskin from the town I was born.  I still have the one my mom got me when I was born - the most expensive thing she bought at the time.  A couple weeks ago I was able to track down the same merchant and picked one out for my baby luxlove.gif
