A woman at the birth center near me is contacting my insurance company today to figure out if homebirth with them will be an option. It would be really ideal, as they are SO close to me and I hear great things about them. Please send me some positive vibes, if you have some to spare, that we can get the homebirth I so greatly want this time.

If this birth center falls through, there is one about an hour south of me that accepts my insurance. But.. they are an hour away, so I will have to drive that far for each appt. I would also worry about them missing the birth as mine have been fairly quick in the past (5 hrs and 2.5 hrs). I'm also outside of the range that they usually travel for homebirth. Gah! PLEASE let this work out. Please.

Thanks, ladies!

So, I heard from someone at the birth center further from me and they won't accept me as a patient. I'm just too far away.

This is really sucking...

So, seems as though I have to get a referral from my PCP to go to this birth center. I wonder if that will even do the trick. They're not covered in my network. One I have the referral letter I have to fax it to a 'reviewer' at the insurance company.

Anyone else dealing with insurance 'issues'??
