Is anyone else experiencing these stabbing pains in their vagina/cervix that feel like electric shocks or something? I am nearly 35 weeks along, but I am REALLY hoping that Wolfgang stays in there for another few weeks so that we can finish our house before he arrives (no bathroom, no kitchen yet). I have been having these pains more and more frequently and they are growing in intensity. They are so strong that they often cause me to yelp. I can also feel him down so low that there is movement behind my pubic hair.

Is this to be expected at this point in pregnancy? Or could it be a sign that he will come early?

I've had the stabbing "there's a knife through my vag" pains off and on the whole pregnancy, and Thrasher has been pretty low a few times. I don't know if the combination is any indication of anything though...

I am having that as well. Doesn't mean you are going into labor soon. Just that the baby is moving down low and using your cervix as a punching bag. A little disconcerting but evidently not anything (I asked my mw:))

I've been having them since 30 weeks(I've always heard it referred to as "lightening crotch"). I had them with my daughter to, their pretty normal thing from what I've been told/read.

Me too.  Feels like he's bashing his head into my cervix!  And before he was head down, felt like he was stomping on my cervix.

Definitely feeling it. Funny 'cause with ds I never did & I thought it was funny when people said they could feel the baby hit their cervix - "how could you know?". Well, you know!

I was just getting online to look for info on the exact same thing!  I've been having pains like that for a couple of weeks now, and I'm 33.5 weeks now.  Good to know it's normal.  I carried DS much higher and never felt this before.

Lightning crotch, yes!! LoL!

Thank you for the reassurance, ladies. The last thing we need right now is an early birth.

I get that several times a day, usually in the evenings. It's called "crotch lightening" and is just the baby hitting or rubbing on your cervix. The first time I felt it with my last baby I almost fell down, it was such a shock. It's still a shock but I'm used it, or as used to it as you can get! It's not easy cooking dinner with that going on over and over! Things like this seem to get worse/felt more with each pregnancy.

I've been having this this time around in the evenings! it is quite uncomfortable and shocking each time. I've also had what I thought were some contractions this afternoon when I got home from work. Then I was leaking colostrum. It's been a weird day....

For me, stabbing knife through the crotch pain is SPD - the pelvic ligaments have loosened, and the bones are unstable and shift suddenly. I'll be walking along and BANG - it hits, I gasp and stop, and everyone around me asks if I'm OK, gah. I've finally lined up a chiropractor appointment to try and reduce the frequency of this. Last time by the end of my pregnancy, I'd start to cry just anticipating walking the 15 steps the the bathroom, it was TORTURE greensad.gif

I had SPD with my last pregnancy, it lasted until the birth. This time I had it for a couple of months and it disappeared overnight...I did nothing different at all, I just went to bed in pain and woke up in the morning and it was like it was never there! I know how horrible that can feel!
