I had seen a thread like this in another DDC, and I thought it was neat to see all the responses. I am 33 weeks, and realizing how very quickly the next weeks are going to fly by.

Here's my list:

Things I will miss:

How easy the baby is to take care of when it's still inside!

I love being pregnant, so I will miss this special time

Going to my OB and midwife appointments (I've known them for years and love both of them!)

Feeling the baby move

Relatively uninterrupted sleep (this is a biggie for me...I get really cranky when I don't get enough sleep!)

Our predictable family schedule/rhythm - having a newborn in the house has a way of stirring things up!

Things I am looking forward to:

Meeting our son, and seeing our other kids' reactions...they are so excited to have a little brother

Finally using all the clothes, diapers, blankets, etc that I have collected

The birth and hospital stay...this may sound strange to some, but we have an awesome small-town hospital with all new rooms, tubs, etc and they are totally natural-birth friendly

Nursing again after a several year break

Feeling like a more normal size...this is my fifth pregnancy and I've gotten absolutely huge this time around. I feel so cumbersome, and just turning over in bed is a major feat

Having a newborn in autumn, my favorite season

Anyone else?

SAHM to Abraham (9) Gillian (5) Adrienne (3) and baby boy coming in October!

Always missing our Gianna, lost during fullterm labor (8/23/04)
Sticking together through the good and the bad with dh of 10 yrs!

Fun :)

What I will miss:

-yes, baby is easy to care for inside!!

-the kicks and nudges and constant reminders that she is there

-the belly - I am plus sized so with DD's it wasn't obvious I was pregnant until the very end of my pregnancy.  This time around I've had a nice round belly and have even had to buy maternity-ish clothes, which has been fun!

-our time as a family of three - and my last weeks home alone with DD

-I'm going to miss our routine, our relatively predictable days and restful nights

What I'm looking forward to:

-no more heartburn!!!

-no more spd pain!

-I have a vague anxiety about the things that could wrong before she is born...I know that once she is born that will be replaced by anxiety about what can happen to her on the outside, but for now I look forward to having more control of what happens to her

-watching DD become a  big sister and DH become a father of two

-I can't wait to see what this baby looks like and who she will be

-no more talking to my toxic parents about my pregnancy - it feels like such a violation to share my excitement or the details they want

-cool weather and walks with my two girls

-sounds silly but I can't wait to get out my ring slings again!!

-BEER

I will miss:

feeling her move around inside

the sweet comments I get while pregnant

our reliable schedule

having two hands - for a while. I swear babies always want to eat when you do

sleep! I'm still sleeping fairly well

Looking forward to:

the sweet baby smell

seeing my boys with their little sister

nursing!

labor (is that weird?) and a home birth

little baby cloth diaper and wool goodness

watching her stretch and curl her back in the way only newborns do

having a girl!!

seeing my husband with our little baby

just growing into a bigger family

YES, BEEEER! :p

I will miss sleep. I already cut back dramatically when I married my early bird DH - now there will be two men keeping me from rest.

I'm looking forward to NOT BEING PREGNANT (35 weeks with intense pressure and contractions = ready to be DONE). I thought I couldn't have kids and always thought I'd be missing something by not experiencing pregnancy... I know what it's like now. Despite it being complication-free and pretty mellow, I'll be perfectly happy not doing it again.

Alaskan Wife and Mama to my special little guy ribbluyel.gif (9/13/11) and expecting #2 (2/21/13)!

What I'll miss:
The lumpy, bumpy rolling feeling inside my womb
Watching my son kiss this big belly and ask funny questions about the baby, " Mommy, does Gabwee-el know about bones?"
The quiet, calm evenings with just the three of us: DH, DS, and me
watching my belly grow in amazement every time I walk past a mirror

What I'm looking forward to:
A newborn baby at Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
Walking baby and DS in the brisk autumn air with DH
Wearing baby in our wraps and slings
Those little newborn froggy legs
Cloth diaper bottom
Watching DS watch his baby brother
Attending church with the new baby in tow
Watching my husband bond with his second son
Breastfeeding!

and Gabriel, born 10-17-11. Ask me about cleft lip and palate!

What I'll miss:
Weird, alien-like wriggling inside

My firm, round belly (as opposed to prepregnancy soft, fat belly)

SLEEP

A home of two people (and one cat)

Hot pregnancy sex (I had no idea)

What I'm looking forward to (Since I have never had a baby before, a lot of this is about me):

Vintage clothes! I've collected plus-sized clothes when I can find them and can't wait to be able to wear them again

Cocktails! Beer! Wine!

Birth (really, I want to know what this is like)

Seeing Spouse, who is so good with children, with his own child

Baby smiles

Right now I feel like I won't miss being pregnant, but also I feel like maybe I just don't know yet and I actually will miss being pregnant.  ...if that makes any sense...

Things I will miss:

- being able to give lots of snuggles and attention to my dog.  She's my sweet girl, and I fear our extended morning cuddlefests will be swiftly coming to an end.  I hope she deals well with being a dog with a child.

- staying up late, sleeping in, kinky sex, travel, nice meals out, drunken nights out at bars (although that hasn't happened for quite some time now), complicated movies - I know all this stuff can be done in some form after the baby, but I feel like it might take a while to work out the details, and it won't be the same as before

- sleeping naked?  Again that can probably be worked out, but I feel like if we co-sleep and I can't have tons of blankies up around my top I'll probably want a shirt on, and once our child gets a little older I might need to have some form of clothing on so I don't offend her delicate sensibilities?  Ugghhh I don't want to sleep in clothes!

Looking forward to:

- BABY!

- seeing DH with baby.  Ohhhh it's gonna be so sweet, I can't wait!

- seeing my mom with baby.

- cute baby+DH, baby+my mom, baby+dog pix.

- putting clothes on baby!

- drinking a gin and tonic!!!!!

- in a couple years:  child!

- taking baby to England to meet her cousins

- babywearing

- new non-pregnant clothes for me!

- not being in pain when I try to sleep!

- cool fall weather, baby in blankies and jackets awwwwwww

- no more worry about horrible birth accidents, pregnancy complications, have I felt my baby move today?

- walking normally

- running!!

- losing tons of weight effortlessly!  (ROTFLMAO.gif)

Things I will miss:

-the movements (not the rough ones though!)

-how simple it is to go out with just one child

Things I am looking forward to:

-being able to hit the weights hard again - looking forward to seeing new progress

-seeing what our baby girl will look like & be like

-ds with a baby sister (although sometimes I am terrified of this 'cause he can be SO rough)

-cuddling a baby again

-not injecting myself with insulin & stabbing my fingers for bs tests

-losing weight - I anticipate hitting my long term weight loss goal fairly quickly & this is super exciting

-breastfeeding again

Surviving sleep deprivation one day at a time with dd (Oct '11) & ds (Oct '08).

Things I will miss:

-I like dressing my belly!  Maternity clothes aren't the most flattering, but normally I have an apple-shaped body and feel a little self-conscious about my belly.  But I Iike how my belly looks when I'm pregnant

-I like feeling the baby move and listening to his heartbeat

Things I am looking forward to:

-Enjoying long walks in the autumn with a tiny baby

-Running

-Nursing lying down with baby next to me

-Cute baby clothes

-First baby smiles

-Seeing ds and dd with their new brother

-No more doctor appointments for me!

-More freedom to eat what I want (no more GD diet)

Things I will miss:

Uninterrupted (mostly) sleep.  I love sleep, I'm nervous about having a newborn due to this.

Being able to get away with very casual all the time. :)

Stalking baby in utero with my cat.  It is a fun game.

Checking out the heartbeat

Things I am looking forward to:

Not being nauseous.  I can't wait.  I've been nauseous since the first week of March and am ready for reprieve!

Cuddling with the baby.  I mean, i try to cuddle her now, but it doesn't work so well.

Super adorable cloth diapers.

Getting to know what makes me tick and what makes her ticked off.

Not feeling guilty when my blood sugar is less or more than perfect.

There's something to be said for the bit of sneaking around you have to do with a baby - different rooms, being quiet, quickies whenever you can find the time.....Don't worry  lol.gif
