Please share pictures of your adorable little babies here!

Here's a few recent ones of Malcolm....

Enjoying some sunshine time:

Sitting with mom at the computer (tummy down, to help with those pesky burps!):

Malcolm still has a big lump on his head.  I was hoping it would go away quickly, but it sounds like it could take a few months.  We've seen a very slight shrinkage, and it continues to be soft and squishy.  Guess it's a good thing hat season is coming up??  Poor kid looks like someone took a hammer to his head!

Cute sleeping pose.  love.gif

He's been napping so much that I was able to whip out a hat/bootie set made of re-purposed cashmere.  I'll miss my old sweater, but it was getting holes and stuff.  Now we're ready to go out on chilly mornings!  (Though I wish I would have made them a size bigger - I don't have another cashmere sweater to do this with, and I will be surprised if they fit more than a month or so!)

Too precious for words! Maybe try some Arnica on the head lump?

emmaegbert 10-12-2011 07:14 PM

Malcolm is so cute! And FWIW I had a HUGE red lump on my head until I was about 6 months old and my head is totally normal now- my poor mom said people would look at the lump and then look at her in shock like, "what did you do to her!" (and I was born midsummer, so lots of hot weather to show it off for the first few months)

Malcolm is beautiful!!!

Hannahkatiebell 10-12-2011 07:37 PM

What sweet, beautiful babies! Makes me want to hold my own!

nicolian 10-12-2011 07:42 PM

hehe! Little tongue. So sweet.

Leiahs 10-12-2011 07:46 PM

Aww, I love Alayna's little tongue in that last pic!!  So cute.  :D

Re: Malcolm's head lump... I had never heard of this before, but MIL told me SIL had the same thing, and it took a few months to go away, too.  My midwife tried giving Mal an arnica tablet, but obviously one single dose is not going to do much long-term.  If you were going to try putting arnica ON his head, would you go with a cream or a gel?  I hate the thought of getting his hair all gunked up, but obviously I'd also like to see his head looking normal.

I love Malcolm's hat and bootie set!

Cute pictures all around, making me really want my baby to arrive so I can take some pictures too.

That head lump looks like a cephalohematoma - a bruise between two layers of bone. It's not a big deal to the baby, but it's tender for a week or so and takes weeks or months to resolve. I've never heard of one that didn't resolve completely, though. You can tell the difference because they don't ever cross from one bone to another, but are completely contained in one skull plate bone.

He's total cutie. I might be tempted to stage a boxing photo with little boxing gloves since it looks like he got in a fight or something. LOL

That's the same information I found through searching, as well.  Midwife kept calling it a caput, which doesn't seem right with what I've found online (though, similar), but she did check to see if it crossed suture lines, etc, and according to her it doesn't.  Malcolm doesn't seem to react to any prodding at all, and there's no discoloration to the skin, either.  I'm sure it will resolve, but it's sure funny looking in the meantime.  ;)

As for the boxing, lol!!!  If only I had some little gloves!  My 3yo Alex keeps saying Malcolm wants to punch me, the way he's always swinging his fists around.  ;)

Jane 10-12-2011 09:53 PM

Caput tends to be worse after the birth and resolve quickly. C-H's sometimes are just hinted at after the birth and arrive in the next day. Or are present at birth - depends on when they arrived. I see them more with babies who are littler than the pelvis they passed through - they can still fit even in a funky position and get that as they spiral past the ichial spines of the pelvis. Those 10 pounders have some protection, I guess, in that they only usually fit in lock-n-load. I'm babbling now, though.

I tried to inline pics and they were HUGE.

As a result, here's a link to my (no longer) secret photobucket album

I posted a few in the chat thread recently, but here are a few more. We are a photo-happy family. Or more accurately, I am a photo-happy person. As far as I'm concerned, if there is no photographic evidence, it didn't happen.

Karli, the pictures of Corbin made me tear up, he is so cute. Gotta love those post-partum hormones. He is seriously the most adorable kid I have encountered as of yet, my own three excepted of course ;).

MOMYS 10-13-2011 11:28 AM

Aw! All the babies are so cute!  Loved looking at these!

Katico 10-13-2011 11:30 AM

Pi, I kind've have a crush on your little guy - he is the sweetest thing!  He's just the sort of baby I love - y'know what I mean?  I guess he reminds me of DD in some ways, she set my "type" lol.gif

~pi 10-13-2011 05:02 PM

Katico, one more reason for me to look forward to seeing photos of your little one, then! smile.gif

DS2 looks almost exactly the same as DS1 at that age. So much so that I think we're going to have to label any printed photos.

leiahs - do you have a pattern or directions for the booties and cap????? sooo loving them!!!

I am really here just to subscribe to this thread because your babies are delicious!

Leiahs 10-14-2011 04:40 PM

I loooooove all the new baby pictures!!!  Keep 'em coming!!!!

Saoirse, I bought a pattern from etsy - it's super easy to follow (and obviously, I finished the sewing while Mal was napping, so not terribly time consuming, either!).  Meant for fleece, but I really wanted to use my cashmere, which ended up being more difficult to sew with in multiple layers than fleece would have been, but not impossible. The pattern is good for up to 18 months, so it's well worth it to me!  Here's a link to the pattern.  :)
