I feel like such a nervous nelly this pregnancy. I've probably called the midwives a dozen or so times, so I'm starting to get a little gun shy about calling for concerns (I know, I know, I shouldn't, but I am). This morning at 8 I actually saw my midwife and was feeling fine. On the drive home I started to get abdominal cramping, not like menstrual cramps, but the kind you get when you're about to have a bad case of diarrhea. I've tried going to the bathroom, but nothing. Lying down has made it slightly better, but not much. My pubic area is achey/burning, but it usually is due to SPD. And now my lower back is aching. I'm just over 31 weeks. I'm sure I'm going to end up calling the practice, but I've had so many problems, physical and emotional, with this pregnancy that I guess I'm looking for reassurance that this is something I should call about.
It's probably nothing, especially since you say it does not feel like menstrual cramping. BUT, if the cramping does not go away when you relax (like laying down, taking a bath, warm compress on your abdomen, etc.) and drink a full glass of water, then I would call. Cramping is one of those things that you want to be cautious about. It could be intestinal distress like diarrhea (that will come later) or constipation or bad gas pains. I have to say I've been having more stomach/intestine issues lately. Or it could be something else that warrants checking out. There is NO harm in calling. That is what your care provider is for.
