Starting yesterday and all day today, I've been having pressure and alot of pain in the tissue around my (TMI sorry) clitoris, and around my pubic bone, it feels bruised. Is this part of SPD? I've also been having alot of BH today.

Sounds like it to me.  Very achy, as if you've pulled your kegel muscles, almost!  I've found that rolling over in bed with my knees clamped together, instead of rolling one leg at a time, seems to help.  ;)

Rolling with my legs together makes the bone rub together which hurts worse. It was just tonight that the pubic bone REALLY started feeling bad. :(

Aw, I'm sorry you're having that pain! I'm glad you described it how you did because I noticed that my SPD doesn't just affect my pubic bone now either but I didn't really want to ask anyone if the tissue around their clitoris feels bruised too, LOL. You're not alone. smile.gif  My SPD had gotten better in the past few weeks but is flaring up again. I'm hoping it doesn't just keep getting worse in the next 9 weeks! Becky - have you had that pain in prior pregnancies?

Wow, I just realized I said 9 WEEKS LEFT. We're getting so close to our due dates, ladies! Eeeeeee!

Yeah, I had it the WORST with my daughter. It started at 9 weeks, settled down quite a bit in my 2nd trimester and then flared up from 32 weeks on. I have just over 10 weeks left (if not LONGER) and I think I can grin and bare it for now. It's mostly when I get up and lay down.

Sounds about right to me.  Each person is going to experience it in a slightly different way.  I don't have pain around my clitoris, but I do have awful burning/ripping pain on the entire left side of my crotch.  It feels like the muscles are pulling apart.  Sometimes I hardly notice it and other times I can barely move.  My chiro has been helping me a lot!  I'm really glad that I started going early and have kept up a regular schedule.

I have achy, bruised pain right behind my clitoris too, and a pulled-muscle feeling inside the tops of my legs (right behind the "crease" of the leg joints) as well as tailbone pain when I sit, and lower back and hip pain when I walk too much (which I haven't been able to do because of the other pain.) So, can't sit, can't walk, lying on my side can hurt the pubic pain. The only good position is flat on my back with my knees bent, but then I get dizzy from the uterine pressure! I need some kind of zero-gravity suspension chamber.

Just curious, what do you folks do with your kids when you have these frequent chiropractic appointments? I don't really have many options for childcare, and so haven't been able to make it to any kind of specialist where I can't bring my 2-year-old with me.

Yeah, like above--mine's not around my clitoris, but pretty much my entire vulva at the same time :( It's worst at night, for me.

Kaypea -

My 3 year old son comes with me to the chiro appts.  The actual appt takes not more than 5 minutes or so, and he walks around and watched, or sits and eats a snack.

Now the dentist is one I haven't been to in a while becuase of coordinating the whole childcare thing.  Whoops!

I've taken both of my kids many times to the chiro (sometimes both, sometimes just my 2yo).  I bring a snack and our iPad and they sit on the chair in the corner.  My appointments take about 20 minutes, but so far it's never been an issue.  My chiro is great, loves kids and has never had a problem with it.

I doubt it. We have Tricare (military insurance) and they don't cover chiropractic. Generally, the benefits are similar, due to the fact that they are both government-run.

Usually, they don't. More specifically, most medicaid will not cover chiro. I'm sure the chiros would take it if they could.

mine cuts a reasonable deal for those who have to pay cash. Our insurance switched recently and my chiro is out of network. Deductible is too high to try to pay toward it by the end of the year, so instead we just switched to cash pay. $45/visit. Not terrible, considering our copay was previously $30.

I've experienced the same thing. I'm just about 32 weeks now. I've felt intense pelvic pressure like right on the pubic bone and pain in my upper inner thigh, like I had done squats or something. I had my sister in law who is a massage therapist (prenatal as well, though I think what she did wasn't pregnancy specific) check it out for me and she rubbed a muscle that ran from my upper inner thigh down to my knee. It hurt really bad & she stopped after a few minutes to prevent bruising but it worked! It fixed the inner thigh pain problem. I do feel it tightening up again though so I'll have to get her to do it again. But it might be something to look into if you know of anyone who does massage therapy.

I guess if you get pain pills instead of seeing a chiro, you're getting the pharmacies paid more money, so of course it wouldn't be covered.

For what it's worth, this is what mine started out feeling like.  I walked around for about a week feeling like I had been kicked in the crotch really hard and it felt like it was really bruised.

I think chiropractic is really the only thing that gives more than temporary relief. I have found a few things that help take the edge off. Here is the link http://backpainandpregnancy.blogspot.com/2008/09/understanding-pelvic-pain-in-pregnancy.html
