Just need to vent! I had a doctor's appointment last week and my low lying placenta has still not moved. I have another ultrasound on October 3rd and will be 34 and a half weeks, so this will determine whether or not I will have a c section. As it was, my baby is in the 98th percentile for weight (from what they can see) and the doctor feels a c section would be in my best interest. I was really hoping for a natural, drug free birth and a section was my greatest fear. I know that I should be okay with whatever gets baby here safest and for me too, but I was devastated. Anyone else going through this situation or been through it?

Yes! I am currently going thru this too. I'm pg with triplets and had to pre-register this morning for my c-section on 11/29/11. 9 weeks early! I'm so upset. All I can do right now is complain on every board I can find. Lol.

I don't want a c-section. NO! I'd like to make it to the new year but my frat twin is growing like a weed and is currently in the 72% of SINGLETON pregnancies and they're afraid her growth will prohibit my Mono/Di twins. Currently my Mo/Di twins are in the 65% range so they're not far behind.

And while their extraordinary growth is great for their development, I don't want them to spend upwards of 8 weeks in the NICU. We'll see how it goes.

I'm not going to do anything today but pout. And watch a bunch of grumpy movies. Hmpf.

Hey,

Sorry to hear that you're being recommended for c-section.

I recently had a similar scare, but for different reasons. My midwife was concerned about my health after the birth and she referred me to an OB-GYN so he could give me all information and I could make an informed choice. By the time I saw him, I had resided myself to the fact I was having a c-section. A crushing thought because of all that it entails. Anyway, I got to the appointment and was most surprised when he suggested the pregnancy could proceed normally and intervention would only be required to avoid a complication at the end.

I know it may be a hassle, but perhaps you could get another opinion just to confirm this. I know the feeling where you get told that you need a section and it just doesn't sit right. It seems wrong, totally wrong. Is it possible you can talk to someone else? I've absolutely no experience with low-lying placentas or what risk that entails, but I am familiar with the recent emotionally crushing roller coaster I was just on and it's really unpleasant.

I'm trying to find the silver lining here and the one thing I can possibly think of is that you will have a bit of time to heal while babes are being treated in the NICU. I know it's not much of a consolation, but surgery with three babies to take care of afterward seems pretty tough in its own right. Although, I know we tend to find a way with whatever happens.

Have you got ice cream to go with those movies?

The silver lining is my husband "thinks" I'll be back at my pre-pre-pregnancy weight by Christmas. irked.gif The skin on my stomach is stretched so thin, it's going to take major reconstructive surgery to get back into anything even slightly resembling "pre-pregnancy."

I'm done fighting the c-section. Whatever. Take them out in November or December or January. I'm not the doctor. There's a whole team of specialists I'm working with and if they say they met and decided the Trips will be out of womb come December 1st, well then so be it.

And yep, I had ice cream and popcorn for my movies! lurk.gif Thanks for asking. nod.gif

How did your ultrasound go?  I had previa with my 6th pregnancy and learned a lot about all the types. Good Luck.

Well my ultrasound went okay! My placenta has still not budged, not even a bit!!! Very stubborn. They also did a biophysical profile on baby and baby passed with flying colors. That put my mind at ease a bit as it looks like I will be going in at the end of the month. I will find out more on Tuesday! Thanks for asking. smile.gif
