I'm just about to have a little girl come into my care who has been emotionally abused. Just wondering if anyone who has BTDT could offer me any advice on what to look out for and what might be helpful to do or avoid.

How old is she?
Are you her first placement?
Is she in therapy or will be starting therapy?

I have all those questions, plus, I've never had a kid come into my care *only* for emotional abuse. Many of them have been emotionally abused in addition to other types of abuse. I'd want to know exactly what kind of emotional abuse went on because that's pretty broad and it would be easy to accidentally say something that would "trigger" something for the kido.

I'm pro-adoption reform, but not anti-adoption.
