we are on a short term assingment in GA.  we will be moving to MO on March 1 and that is "where we will be".  Once there we are applying to be a foster to adopt family.

we can't apply or do anything else right now.

so i am looking for anything i can do to "feel like" i am doing something  biggrinbounce.gif yes, kinda silly, but i need to occupy my mind in some way besides photoslistings innocent.gif

So, come on foster parents -- how can i spend my time  more constructivly -- what books or website can i read and learn from?

tell me how to use my time....

You could look through the threads here for resources and links to blogs (there are a few recent threads with that stuff).

You could hunt up the foster/adoptive family support groups in the area you're moving to and start getting involved in their mailing list or online community if they have one (check the "Finding Your Tribe" area here to see if there's anyone on here for that, too)

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.  I'm sure others will jump in with lots of suggestions!

Read "The Connected Child"! Read it again when you start your classes, and keep it handy and read it again when you get your placement.

I reccommend the Foster Parenting podcast, the Evan B. Donaldson Institute website (sorry, can't search for the site addy now), AdopUSKids.org (for the how-to but don't look at the pics of kids!), and browse YouTube for adoption/foster parenting becasue there are so many people who post vids about their everyday lives and the kids they take in.

Best of luck!
