What is the first call I make?

DH and I have decided to pursue this. Do we have to have a sahp to do this?

Congrats on your decision I would say contact your local child welfare office first. Someone there will be able to put you in contact with the right person to get you started. And no, you do not have to have a sahp to foster or adopt. There are some kids who do require a full time parent, but not most of the kids. Good luck!

Congratulations! We contacted our local DFS and they set us up in classes. With the foster classes/adopt classes we were in it about 12 weeks I believe.

Good luck!

Nope, not at all. In fact with fost to adopt they will actually supplement your day care expenses or they even maybe free.
